Well it arrived in working, functional condition. That's a GOOD thing.
This is a way too early initial review. You have been duly warned.I purchased the Expedition with the light brown leather strap and a matte stainless buckle. It has a coordinated colored case done in a dark tone similar to a traditional oil-rubbed bronze finish. The dial face is in a sympathetic matte warm gray, with glow-in-the-dark white hour and minute hands and a yellow-orange second hand. In my opinion the entire package is pleasing to the eye, albeit in a fairly conservative manner. It's something that is easy to mix with casual wear but is probably too understated for formal or flashier outfitting. This particular Expedition is my second one; the first was purchased some time ago here on Amazon (the one with the drab green band). Because that one has been flawlessly running, I though it was time to pick up another one.In operation the Expedition is easy to set up. The crown is set up with three detent positions: the first of course is the disabled position next to the case. The middle position detent accesses the fast date adjustment function and the outermost detent allows for time adjustment. The crown worked as it should, although the middle detent for date adjustment was a little vague in feel and took a bit of time to properly find. I'd suggest first adjusting the date before finally adjusting the time because of this, because it was all too easy to skip over the middle detent and find myself at either end position. The crown also offers a dial illumination feature; press in on the crown when it's in the disabled (closed) position and the dial will light up in a soft bluish tone.As for its fit and function, the Expedition series suits my smallish wrist quite well. The watch face is perhaps a tad smaller than what I'd normally prefer, but its markings are generally easy to read and make out. The lone exception is the humorously small date window; in certain lighting conditions, the offset of the date dial from the time dial allows for shadows to be cast across the date numbers, making the digits hard to read without some amount of shift the watch around to catch the right lighting in order to make out the number. It's a quiet operating watch as well; with my hearing as it is, I can only hear the 'tick' of the second hand if I hold the watch close to my ear. YMMV of course, but that's how it is with me. As for its water resistance capability, I haven't had the (dis)pleasure to test either of my Expeditions in a dunking/soaking kind of manner. Nor would I particularly want to, especially with this new one and its leather watchband. I'll instead trust Timex and their quoted water resistance figure of a depth down to 50m. Not that I would ever want to test that myself; dry land is more than good enough for me these days.As for its most important metric, well it's been nuts-on accurate for the first 2+ hours of operation. I mean, I DID warn you that this was a way too early initial review. :D However given how my first Expedition has consistently performed, I really don't anticipate any operational and functional problems with Expedition #2. But if there were to be issues, it's good knowing that Timex offers a limited lifetime warranty on the watch. This Expedition was bought at an excellent sale price at the time of purchase. Even at its regular price I truly believe that it's a worthy addition to any casual watch collection.A-rating so far.

Unbelievable watch. You won't be disappointed!
Overall, for the $45 I spent on this watch, I feel like I won the watch lottery. It looks equally amazing in jeans and t-shirt as it does in my suit and tie when I go to work. It has an understated coolness/elegance to it. I definitely recommend this quality, reliable, beautiful Timex Expedition Scout 43mm as a daily wear watch or as an occasional wear in your collection rotation!I have an extensive watch collection (regular person watches, nothing "luxury" ... that's a laughable term for a watch, IMO). I have all categories of quartz watches; dive, pro dive, dress, casual, vintage/retro, knock-about, etc., with all bracelet/strap types and I was surprised that this watch has emerged as my absolute favorite of all of them. I think it is the perfect size (43mm wide and 11mm thick case) and the black coated brass case is gorgeous, lightweight, and durable. The main numbers and indices are large and very readable at a glance. Readability is further helped by the contrast between the black dial and the white number and indices. The dial includes an inner circle of smaller numbers that show military time, which is useful. The seconds hand has an orange tip, making it very easy to see against the background. The medium brown leather strap has beautiful contrast stitching and a case-matching black buckle, which I thick looks amazing. The leather seems to be good quality and I think it will look even better as it ages and becomes softer and wrinkled. There is no lume on the watch but it comes with Timex's excellent Indiglo lighting, which works just fine in the dark. The date window kind of blends in with all the numbers and indices but once you get used to where it sits on the dial, it's no problem to see. This watch looks SO MUCH BETTER in real life than in these photos. In fact, the case almost looks gray in the photos, but it's a very nice dark black color in real life. It has a mineral glass crystal, which is fine and expected for the price, but you could easily replace that with sapphire if you ever wanted to. The movement is a reliable Myota quartz movement.

It's A Timex Expedition Scout, But Not What I Ordered.
I received a mint condition Timex Expedition Scout Watch, it's a good looking simple Quartz watch. The indiglo feature works well, the strap is comfortable, and there's no loud ticking. It's an excellent watch for a very affordable price. However, I did not receive what I ordered. I ordered the Black/Black/Grey model, and I received a model with a crown guard (An appreciated feature) that didn't exist on the picture, a black nylon strap with brown leather reinforcement, grey dial and a not very grey case instead of the black leather strap with a black dial and dark grey case sans crownguard that was pictured online.I'm not going to return this watch, because what was delivered to me is a perfectly functional and simple field watch that looks similar to the picture online. I assume I got the updated model or something, I saw reviews complaining about the lack of a crownguard and how it was easy to damage the crown.
