Fantastic movie, the old stand by

Best movie ever

This is not a movie review, as this is a classic.We are Amazon Prime subscribers & I purchased this movie for my hubby.So, when there isn't anything of interest to stream, he watches mobster movie classics.The purchase has been great. Only once did we have a problem accessing our movie purchase. It wasn't our equipment. The streamer was not accessible at that time, bummer.However, it was available at a later time, next day.It's housed on the Prime app under the Mystuff link.

A MUST see if you are into the mafioso genre....

This is an amazing story with incredible acting. I had it on VHS and this was a replacement as i have watched it so many times. I love this film because it manages to show the "baddies" as good guys too. Written and acted in by Chas Palmenterie, this is one of my all time great gangster films. Brilliant.

I can see why so may reviewers rate this film but I think it is a bit shallow. De Niro's bus driver character is a proud working class father who is constantly upstaged by a pontificating crime boss. Of course this is just entertainment but somehow the balance is all wrong. There are other aspects of the film that are excellent and it deals with issues of gang culture, racism and relationships rather well. Overall, good but seriously overrated 6 out of 10.

Present day basic human philosophy hasn't changed since the film was made twenty years ago.It describes many aspects of present day life: a simple domestic honest life and a clear conscience,versus the false glamour of crime and living in a permanent state of fear.The violence then is present today,the polarisation of society remains as then, poverty and wealth remain extreme, and human respect in selected societies remain as it was twenty years ago, a nadir.A seminal film charting the changing philosophy as child becomes youth , then youth becomes an adult,living in a city with multicultural societies, his mind fighting to decide his future- between good and evil. A must-see film.

This is a good movie that tells an interesting story. You cannot really class this as a gangster movie & I think that De Niro did a good job directing. This is worth a watch
