Clean & Chemical-Free - anywhere! And, TIPS...
I used this on a month-long trip to Europe. [2015 UPDATE: and another month-long trip to India, as well as several trips in-between]. I knew I'd be staying with host families (and some hotels) and I was unsure if I'd be bothered by the chemicals they use in their laundry, so I did a lot of research and decided to buy this, just in case. Here's my EXPERIENCE, including several TIPS I learned from my use:- Yes, i often encountered sheets with heavy fragrances (detergent, fabric softener, and even linen sprays) - this Cocoon helped to "protect" me from direct contact, and may help others with a "super sniffer" or those with MCS.- I also encountered "unchanged" sheets (indicative of the short body hairs and other human lint still on the bed) - this Cocoon helped to "protect" me from picking up any foreign hairs, lint, body oils/sprays/odors (etc??) while I slept. (does this really matter? who knows, but it helps ME sleep better, and may help those with OCD). Some reviewers claimed the Cocoon protected them from bugs - I cannot attest to this other than I received no bites during the sleeping times of my travels. There may have simply been no bugs.- I prefer to sleep unclothed, and I felt more comfortable doing this in "my" cocoon, than on someone else's sheets (both for my sake, AND for theirs).- I bought the largest size (94x46), allowing for some shrinkage (it's cotton, after all) and because I prefer a roomy sack in which to sleep - it packs up fairly small, but does take up a bit of space (like that of a thin sweatshirt or pair of jeans?). I'll leave something else home (spare pj's?) so I can have room for my Cocoon. I found the size to be just right for me and I never felt restricted.- For sleeping on a twin bed, i tucked the "pillow cover" part under, around the mattress (like a fitted sheet), then i straightened the bottom of the cocoon out and it was like a normal sheet set-up and stayed tight during my 4 or 5-night stays. (for larger mattresses, you could also tuck just one corner. This will stay, but obviously not as securely as tucking both corners). I always travel with my own small kapok pillow & case, so i used that for my neck and i tucked the pillow my hosts provided to me, under the cocoon, under my knees, as a bolster. Slept great!- As much as I usually prefer unbleached/undyed, I'm glad I bought a colored one - this helped remind me to pack it up and take it home or to the next stop with me (especially during some frantic mornings). And, also prevented housekeepers from mistakenly gathering it up with the rest of their linens. I bought a color I like, which adds a bit to the "comforts of home" factor. Thank you to the person who returned it, so that I could buy it used and save a little $ for my travels!IDEAS:(i) - I plan to use this on top of my Byer of Maine Easy Cot (which is awesome, BTW), for hot-weather camping and overnight homestays. Maybe I'll pair it with a small fleece throw for an added touch of comfort or chilly nights (I sleep hot). [2015 UPDATE: yep, that was a good idea - have done this several times](i) - I recently bought a 25" wide ALPS Mountaineering Comfort Series Air Pad and plan to slip the pillow pocket of the Cocoon over that (and, when paired with the cot, the top of that, too) for even more comfort. [2015 UPDATE: another good idea, implemented with success](i) - I might try to use this with my hammock, too (i think I'll get in the Cocoon first, tho!).(i) - When I need to use a sleeping bag, I will use this Cocoon as a liner, to add a touch of warmth (and the flexibility to "pop the top" of my bag open if it's too warm); this will also help keep my bag cleaner and will aid in cleaning. Also, will allow me to choose a bag without being restricted to whether the inside fabric is cotton or nylon (I'm picky about that and now, how it feels won't matter as much as other factors). I might just pair it with a fleece sleepsack/sleeping bag for warm-weather camping.(i) - I'm considering buying or making a second one for guests, as we have a comfy couch and using this Cocoon would prevent the difficulties encountered when trying to "sheet up" the couch for overnight sleeping.WISHES:- that it was certified organic cotton- that it was less money (kinda pricey for what is essentially a folded flat sheet with a few extra seams, and a bag)- that it was a bit softer (it's not scratchy, but not quite as "worn-in" as my soft organic sheets at home)- that it had an opening on both sides (because of the way I use the pillow pocket, it's not really "ambidextrous", but it is not impossible to slide into, if the opening happens to be on the "wall side")- that the velcro didn't catch on my hair (minor complaint, I might replace with a magnet, swap the hook side to the loop side and vice-versa, or remove it entirely, as it does collect some lint) [2015 UPDATE: I finally just snipped the threads that (loosely) held the velcro on. MUCH better!]- that the stuff sack was attached (like a flap you fold the sheet into, just less for me to have to keep track of) {2015 UPDATE: um, surely, it's around here, somewhere...]- that there was an easy way to open one side and the bottom to "pair" it with another travelsheet (for those times when travelling with a snuggle/cuddle-partner)The Cocoon washes well in my Maytag Front Loader (using baking soda, soap nuts, & white vinegar) & dries in my dryer (using wool balls and EO). It does wrinkle a little bit if I don't remove promptly, but I don't really care about that sort of thing. I also considered a silk one (real silk, not icky silk-like polyester), but decided the cotton was best for me. I sleep on cotton at home (always organic) and, I kinda feel bad for the little silkworms who are sacrificed for our comfort.I will continue to use it and wash it (in the hopes it gets softer). If it starts to break down, or I need to replace it, I might try to fashion my own with an old, comfy, organic sheet from my linen closet. This is certainly possible, but for my first travel sheet, due to time and sewing space restrictions, I chose to purchase a "pre-made" one. [2015 UPDATE: have used (& washed) it dozens of times, on many travels, and it shows no negative signs of wear and is soft enough to be totally comfortable - zzzzz....]I highly recommend all frequent travelers (especially couchsurfers/hostellers...) consider some travel sheet option (there are many out there, so decide which is best for you based on size needs - both unfolded and packed up; material - not all "silk" ones are actually silk; price; durability/reviews; and, if it matters, color). I am very happy with my decision to purchase and travel with this sheet, even if I have to mod it a bit for my specific preferences. While it gives ME comfort for the reasons listed above, I also like that my hosts have fewer additional housekeeping duties, due to my stay (I also bring my own towel).I rely on reviews to help me make informed buying decisions. I hope this review helped you! :)

I've taken it on every trip I've gone on since I bought it
I originally bought this to use for a month long trip in a tropical third world country. Since then, I've brought it on pretty much every trip I've gone on.Pros: - it's extremely easy to clean, even if you just rinse it. Because of where I've traveled, this has been the most important for me - extremely light but surprisingly insulating. I've used this product in temperatures ranging from 50F - 90F -- I was as comfortable as you can expect to be on both extremes - compacts down very well. The stuff bag rolls it up to be about 9"? long with a 4" diameter - pillow cover. Since my travel involved questionable sleeping conditions, covering every surface I was sleeping on was importantCons: - Because it's so thin, it's easy to get a bit tangled up

Nice and compact to travel with!
I traveled to Cuba for two weeks and I used this sheet every single night. I probably didn't need it every night but I felt better about using my own sheet then the ones provided. I will most likely use this sheet when I travel outside the US because it is easy to pack and it is very practical. I was on a bike tour so it fit just fine in my pannier.

High quality, comfortable, roomy -- Back-packer caution
I ordered the giant size (94-inch) and it was very roomy and comfortable. I used this a few times during my trip abroad. One place I stayed (a BnB) did not have clean sheets -- and this was the perfect solution. Made me feel clean and fresh. Backpackers: My only complaint -- it that it is heavy. If you are traveling super light, be prepared for something that takes a lot of space and weight. I had a resentment every time I packed because I kept looking at how much space it took up in my pack. If you stay in BnB and hostels -- probably perfect for you. It you stay in hotels -- maybe not. ALSO -- I didn't think I would be able to fold it back up -- but I figured it out.

comfortable and machine washable/dryable
Before using it I ran Cactus Blue sheet through the washer/dyer with no trouble. Came out soft and comfortable. Fits perfectly in my XL sleeping bag. Slept in it for four nights without it ever becoming tangled or wrapped up in it. The long opening made it very easy to get in and out of and the velcro closure stayed closed all night. The pillow pocket keep the smallish inflatable camping pillow in place all night! Plus the cotton felt nicer than the pillows' covering. The only "cons" are the velcro patches are small and the same color as the sheet so finding the one on the bottom can be a little difficult in the dark or in low lighting. And the color muted slightly after washing in warm water.

Great for traveling in hot climates
I had one for years that I used throughout Asia (daily use in nearly 7 years on the road there). I had to resew seams a few times, and I added some velcro to keep it closed at the top. It definitely doesn't keep you warm (which was the point in SE Asia!). I like it because I felt like I always had clean sheets, and if I was in shared accommodations (staying with a family or in a hostel), I felt it provided some modesty that just sheets do not. On really hot nights, I could sleep nude without worrying that a sheet might fall off and leave me exposed in the middle of the night. It finally got lost with a suitcase and I replaced it with a mummy style trying to save a few ounces of travel weight. However, the mummy style wouldn't let me bend one knee (without bending both) and just felt tight and cramped, so I returned it and got this rectangle style one. The new one is much bulkier than the old one, but maybe it just hasn't worn down enough with so much use. It's about the size of a rolled up sweatshirt.
