The Travel Book: A Journey Through Every Country in the World (Lonely Planet)

Arrived shrink wrapped and in nice condition. The pictures are beautiful and inspiring. I gave this book as a Christmas gift to to both my young niece and cousin. My niece is only 10 so I suppose that what to drink might be a bit mature for her but the rest of the book is so inspiring especially for anyone who hasn't traveled that much. I've traveled a lot and I think this is a beautiful book. So much so that I am considering buying one for myself. Not many books cover every country in the world so beautifully. I also thought that the content and ideas are interesting and inspired. The girls seemed to love it as well.

Book was better than I imagined. Bought it as a present for my uncle who loves to travel, he was drawn in immediately. It's actually quite large and weighty, but in a good way. Good quality and lots of pics and info. Good as a coffee table book too.

This is a gorgeous book with such great photographs. It was a gift for my child who loves to read about different countries. I picked this book over the edition designed for kids because this version seemed like it would be more interesting to her. It was indeed the right choice—she loved it. And her adult family members really likes it, too!

I was given this book as a gift several years ago and I absolutely love it. Every time I travel I write an entry in the book on the page of the country I visited. My goal is to visit all seven continents and as many countries as I can. When looking for ideas for my next vacation, I look at the book for inspiration. I bought this book recently for my daughter who is on a Rotary Youth Exchange Program and has just begun what will probably be a lifetime of travel and adventure. I know she will love her copy as much as I love my copy.

Beautiful, large photos. Succinct, upbeat descriptions. Two large double pages for each country. Portrays each country in a most positive light. Makes for an excellent present. Obviously no mention of crime, poverty, pollution, violence, corrupt regimes - so the exact opposite of the way mainstream media likes to present the world. I do wish that apart from a small grey map of the country on each double page there also would be a global map pinpointing the exact location of each country. Even though I have traveled to more than 100 countries I was unable to point out the exact location of some of the newer countries. I had to remove one star because for me it is unforgivable to print a book that includes foreign words that are misspelled esp. when the word is "Wiener Schnitzel"!

What a terrific book. So educational and fun for every age. Every Wednesday night we did a dinner from a different country where we’d say a few words in the language and learn a few facts, and maybe even watch a movie. I have gifted it to every family I know!

I love this book! It is a beautiful book with beautiful pictures and nice tips. It is not overwhelming and it looks great on the coffee table :-) I gave one to my 18 year old niece who wants to travel Europe and South America and she absolutely loved it. Said it was her favorite Christmas gift and that even includes the electronics that she received:-)

WOW! This is a mind-blowing book! First I tried reading the Kindle Version and could not...too small print. So I took a chance and ordered the Paperback hoping it would lighter to pick up and well-bound. IT IS! The pictures alone earn the price of the book. I wondered how they would “summarize” The USA in only 4 Photos and they did so very well. I’m proud to say The Brooklyn Bridge in my Hometown of NYC is one of the 4 pix! But in addition, I looked at all The Countries I have visited and they are spot on. This book is going to save me lots of money on plane tix...or maybe not? Hmmm...now where to visit NEXT? I’m going to order this book for all my friend’s birthdays!
