Very good!
It is a bit expensive but go for it! It writes smoothly and gives me the best line variation of all my pens! It doesn't railroad or catch on fibres. It is on the heavier side but I like the feeling to it as it is so thick. It has got a nice design! I use this pen for drawing and writing. I use this pen with the Noodler's Black Waterproof Fountain Pen Ink, the pen does a good job with ink flow so it doesn't bleed a lot on plain paper. Get this pen it is worth it!

Love the Line Variation - my favorite pen for drawing
I absolutely love this pen! You can do a variety of line weights without switching pens. I also love the weight of it. I do have smaller women hands but I love a metal pen with a bit of weight. The lines flow more smoothly than pushing a lighter weight pen. If you are on the fence about buying it - I say go for it. I love it so much I am going to buy a spare.

I don’t think this is a fountain pen
I would like a nib that makes thinner lines. The big line was too bold. It did seem not to drop a big blob of ink like the regular nibs sometimes do. I also thought it would work as a fountain pen. The pen is very attractive.

Nice flowing pen but HEAVY to hold
I really like fude nib pens and own several. This Duke 551 has a great fude nib with a great flow of ink BUT it is very heavy compared to any other pen I own. I'm not sure I could sit and hold for an hour. I use it for small sketches that take 5-10 minutes and then often watercolor over. The other thing I didn't like is that I had to remove the ink converter to fill it. All my other pens, I don't remove the converter when refilling. I lower the nib in the ink bottle then twist the plunger up to fill. I'll keep it and use but as I don't see any period of long use at one time due to the weight.
