Just good enough
These pliers do work OK. There is a bit of slop between the 2 halves. Most of the crimps I made required at least 2 passes, as the rings slipped out or made incomplete crimps. If you need to install a lot of hog rings, I would get something better. This is OK for a homeowner needing this for occasional use. While it does crimp, and makes good crimps, needing 2+ passes limits this to light duty use.The 2 halves moving adds a bit of challenge as well. For my very limited use, they did the job. I would really hate to use this on a daily basis. But for the price, for occasional use, they seem OK

Hog Ring Pliers
I only rated the pliers as a three star because the grooves in the pliers are not deep enough to hold the rings as good as I think they should. As far as clamping the rings together, they are okay for the ones that I got to stay inside the grooves.

Good
These are sturdy and they work well. They are ergonomic in the hand and make quick work of hog rings.

Better than big box pliers for smaller rings.
I was using these for bungee cords and that took smaller rings. The big box pliers were more suited for fence work.

Item as described, but..
Item does what it needs to do but with a few flaws. I’ve noticed overtime using these the return spring tends to get caught or gets stuck. The divots are too shallow to hold a hog ring as well. When using the hog ring in place tends to fall out of the pliers. It’s good for the money to do what it needs to do. It just gets annoying with its little flaws.

Good for occasional DIY use
I purchased these to reupholster the front seats of my classic car. They worked well enough for doing the job one time, but if I needed to use hog ring pliers on a long-term basis, I'd probably pony up more money and buy nicer ones. They are plenty sturdy, but my primary criticism of them as that eventually during use the jaws started allowing the hog rings to rotate 90-degrees while clamping down, so I'd have to cut the hog ring off and try again. Toward the end, this was happening between 1/3 to 1/2 of the time. So would I buy these again? For the low price and given that I only needed them for a single project, yes.
