Exploring India's Sacred Art: Selected Writings of Stella Kramrisch Ed. & with a Biographical Essay

First-rate content with truly horrendous "photos"
Stella Kramrisch's words are wonderful as usual--in addition to the excellent biographical essay by Barbara Stoler Miller. Not a great quality of paper, which I could live with, but the accompanying "photos" are embarrassingly, distractingly poor--in many cases you can't even determine what the picture is showing, it's that bad. While reading, the text of course refers to the pictures--but in this case I had to force myself not to look, because the pics here obscure rather than add to your understanding of the content.

This was an excellent choice for me
I studied with Kramrisch in the '50s at Penn and was eager to collect publications by and about her. This was an excellent choice for me. Many illuminating facts and original points of view — in a scholarly text that might not suit the general reader.
