Enjoyable sci-fi story with romance included
As a sci fi fan, I enjoyed this book. The author built a high-tech, believable world where a select group of humans operate space ships by hooking in and becoming one with the ship. The characters are interesting and varied, and as we learn their backgrounds, we understand their flaws. The romance developed nicely, and the intimate scenes were well written and helped in understanding the complexity of the romance between TiCara and Sherin.

Not turning to stone!
The cover sold me on this one. Loved the, background story and coming of age, awesomeness on the ship. If this Author comes around in my next rotation, I’ll have to read it. Off to my next adventure.

Fun book!
A fun book! I enjoyed it very much. It was very much film noir in space with lesbian characters.

There’s some good immersive world building in this lesfic. I like that language was modified to be alien, too. That’s all too rare. But I couldn’t love it madly for two reasons. The big one is the lead character is made unbelievably stupid to suit the plot. Pilot-Captain has multiple opportunities to chase down clues as to the loyalty of various people she’s investigating. Each time she’s smart enough to have the thought, or press someone for more, but continuously thinks “meh, later”, while she follows her libido. She’s *absurdly* easily distracted. It’s a really big stretch that during the most important, life-changing mission of her existence, she keeps dropping the ball and losing her focus to be near the woman she has the hots for. It’s so unprofessional and hard to believe given the stakes. The other issue is the book’s many multiple points of view really dilute the focus. To keep it sharper, and maintain mystery, culling some of those head spaces would be better IMHO.Lastly, I was disappointed there was no closure on the elusive businessman or the baddie’s boss. It would have been nice to know what happened. Also be nice to know what happened to the pilot’s former mentor. A lot of loose ends there which decreases satisfaction. But on the plus side, big kudos for originality, world building, and really writing something out of the ordinary. It’s a memorable book that I’m still thinking about days later. For those who enjoy lesfic with a difference, give it a go.
