This is an excellent Puukko with a very reasonable price tag
This is an excellent Puukko with a very reasonable price tag.The sheath-black leather, very well made, appears flawless upon inspection. It's a traditional design, meaning the sheath will secure the knife well, yet it doesn't have snaps, etc. nor a liner. The knife-very comfortable grip and I like the finish both for durability and looks. The blade came razor sharp and cuts very well. The blade is high carbon steel and appears well made too.If there's anything negative I could think of about this Puukko, it would be the blade is a usual (traditional) length of 3 1/2 or so inches and I'd prefer a 4" blade. Yet overall this is a great knife.

Worst Marttini I've ever owned
This is a poorly made knife. The blade is crooked and it appears very cheaply made. A Mora is a way better deal. I have other Marttinis that are way better. Don't waste your money on this one.I sent this knife back because it was that bad. The seller promptly refunded my money.

great knife in function
I bought this knife awhile back and wanted to use it a lot before reviewing to make the most accurate review possible. I'm very happy with this tool as a bush tool and its replaced my 5 inch bushcraft knife entirely since. It has quality high carbon steel and functions superbly. You will have to maintain it since rust is obviously an issue with high carbon blades, but thats not hard at all. I've cut meat, carved wood, took samples from plants, batoned small pieces for kindling (so the tang is plenty strong for a rat tail tang just don't act stupid with it and it'll serve well within reason but do it at your own risk) the only "issues" with the knife were upon arrival there were minor rolls in the edge but quickly fixable and also the blade slightly leaned to the right. Nothing that affected function though. Also, I hated the braided leather belt loop so I cut it off and replaced it with my own design. It was function though. Overall, it's basically an upgraded, more robust Mora. So if you like puukos and don't like the rubber handles and plastic sheaths this is probably the best traditional material puuko you're going to get under fifty bucks. I won't have to replace it as I use it responsibly, but if I were to have to, I would buy again in a heart beat.

But as always with Finnish knives it has good steel and also has a nice traditional sheath
I have many Finnish knives mostly with curly birch handles and a few with plain birch. But the plain birch on this knife sent to me is just plain ugly and very light in density. Also the handle is not properly fitted to the ferrule. But as always with Finnish knives it has good steel and also has a nice traditional sheath.

One of the best commercial puukkos available. Goofy pommel
Very solid and sharp knife. Odd pommel.I can see the pommel aids in removal from the sheath, as the knife sits very deep, but the pommel feels odd in the hand.

My Gift To Others - First Puukko
When I gift a puukko to a friend or family member this is the one I do that with. It's a perfect "first traditional puukko" to give away. Blade will hold up, handle is of a shape and engineering that a non-knifey person can use it safely and figure it out. Enough tradition in this puukko to teach the puukko tradition and grow.

Great little knife
Great little knife. Camp knife or for carving. Definitely worth putting in a 3 knife system. Handle is stained birch the staining is very pretty and looks like the picture, comes with a traditional looking black leather sheath, I only wish it had some of Marttiini ' s trademark artwork on the sheath.
