Does the job well
Replaced caster wheels on two beds, one with this steel version and the other with the plastic version - from this vendor. Both types arrived promptly and worked fine. The reviewer who complained that these steel glides didn't fit must not have installed the plastic inserts that come with each set. So long as you have standard sized casters, after removing them you must insert plastic spacers first and tap them in place gently with a hammer. Then, these steel glides fit perfectly inside the spacers. Press firmly on the bed to "snap" the glides in place, and now they won't fall out even if you lift a corner of the bed for some reason. The plastic glide itself is a very durable material. We wanted a bit more "stiction" on our hardwood floors, so we attached self-stick rubber discs to the glides. Now the bed doesn't move out of place no matter how much you toss and turn at night!

Hesitant at first but a great fit and helpful ...
Posted are the pictures between the original wheels and the steel stem glides. One of the wheels to the bed frame broke and I had to replace them. Here were my concerns:1) Does it actually glide?2) Does it make the bed uneven if I only replace one or two legs?3) Does it fit in the originally hole?Overall, I'm really happy. I replaced two of the wheels near the headboard with the steel stem glides. So to answer the questions:1) Yes, it does glide easily without scratching or problems. When you sit or lay on it, it doesn't really move. Thank goodness since we have Airbnb guests!2) As you can see in the image, there's like half an inch of a difference but I can't notice a thing!3) Yes, it fit. They had covers but I didn't need to use it. It locked it in place and removing was with ease.Yes, I recommend it.

I needed a set of 6, not 4
The glides are high quality, sturdy and fit my metal bed frame perfectly. The bed still moved a bit so I purchased "Slipstick CB755 Glide Cup, Chocolate, Small", which seem to help. My bed is still a tad squeaky, but a much improved situation. I am giving 4 out of 5 because there are only 4 glides per package. My adjustable twin/queen bed frame had 6 casters to replace, and I assume most bed frames do. So I had to buy 2 sets of glides and glide cups. I don't know why the manufacturer doesn't sell them in 6's.

I should have been searching Amazon all along...
The most helpful review from previous purchasers was the one star review about the glides sliding all the way into the sockets. That's exactly what we wanted them to do. We had removed the casters on the queen bed frame after buying a new mattress-foundation because the bed was way too high. We put carpeted leg cups under the ends of the sockets, which lowered the bed but also made it impossible to move for vacuuming the carpet. Then we found these but the bed would again have been too high. Our frame had metal sleeves inside the sockets to keep the casters (or these glides) from falling out but we simply pulled them out allowing the bed to be the just about the same height it had been after the previous machinations. And, these glides allow us to move the bed, as needed, to clean under it. The plastic sleeves that came with them are, of course, unneeded since we have no plans to lift the bed. These glides may be intended for use on hard floors but they work just as well on carpet.

Casters them selves are great plastic sleeve broke
The casters are very solid and slide great the plastic sleeve them plug into broke within a week. All Six still works but bed isn't as high up as it should be.

I figured installing glides like these would reduce our bed's tendency to erratically wander ...
I had been looking for a product of this type for awhile, as I knew they used to be available years ago. I was pleasantly surprised to find exactly what we needed in Acme's product offerings. I figured installing glides like these would reduce our bed's tendency to erratically wander across the room on our hardwood floors whenever it was least convenient. The wide, crowned-face casters previously on the bed frame were the right height, but were not 'lockable'; the only way to limit their movement was to use large caster cups beneath them. Unfortunately, the cups tend to tilt if a caster moves towards the edge of the cup, such that occasionally one caster would pop off its cup and the bed would move. The moving bed tendency became a problem when my wife tried to sit on the edge to put on / take off socks/stockings or shoes, sometimes producing an unwelcome surprise. The bed's freedom to move is now decently restrained. These glides are very well made and no more difficult to install than casters.

Strong, sturdy and steady.
I was looking to replace the wheels on my bedframe. After reviewing many options, I selected these glides for the following reasons:- They are made of steel (and they actually are) This is not flimsy metal that will bend or break.- The glides on the bottom mean I don't have to worry about damage to my hardwood floors.- The price was very reasonable. They have been on my bed for at least a month now and they have not disappointed. I would definitely recommend, and would buy again.Note that I am also using them in conjunction with these wooden risers: Wood Bed Risers lift Table furniture lifts storage Mahogany Set of 4. The glides fit nicely into the square recess on top of the risers, and I have had no problems with the bed shifting or the glides moving out of the risers. I had tried plastic risers but they immediately broke when I sat on the bed (I weigh about 160 lbs). These risers are nice solid wood.
