Awesome with a little tweak.
For the price, this is a great tool! It's the more powerful one, and it only takes about a half second to start sinking into the plastic. I decided to practice on an old 5gallon bucket before I tackled the dash. I'm glad I did. The holes in the gun are so close to the diameter of the pins/staples that they don't want to slide in, or back out. I was having to wait until the plastic cooled down a lot, before I could pull hard enough to come off the staple. Here's how I fixed it: (modify at your own risk.) I grabbed the smallest drill bit I had (1/16th) and drilled out the two holes in the gun (about 1/4in deep). See the pic. This fixed it! The staple slides right out now. If you need some tension on the staple, you can flex the arms apart a bit before you put them into the gun. Now I could squeeze the trigger and as soon as the staple started to sink, I released the trigger and about a half second later I could pull off of the staple with no effort, leaving it in the plastic to continue to harden, while I prepared the next staple. This modification sped things up by an incredible amount of time. You can see in the pics, my dash was in several pieces. I even had to custom shape a couple of pieces that were missing altogether, using a plastic welding wire spool I had laying around. You could still see the cracks on the outside, but the dash felt very solid, going back in. I've repaired plastic dashes in the past with a low-voltage soldering iron, with a small flathead screwdriver end attached to it. This tool works so much better and faster! (And drilling out those holes, was a game changer!)Also, several people have complained about the cutters leaving a bit sticking out. That is typical of clippers/dykes in general. That's how they clip such hard material, by having a bevel on both sides. See that pic. They are all that way. I used several different types on this repair, but mostly the side-dykes and the end-dykes. If you absolutely need to remove the last little bit, clip it as close as you can, and use a cut off wheel on a rotary tool to get the last part. Don't spend too much time on any one of them, or you'll heat the staple and the plastic up to the point it will get soft again. Great tool! I love it.

Actually works pretty well!
I finally decided to whip this little tool out after leaving it in the box simply cause I was concerned. I used it to fix the little plastic disk that's supposed to hold the left turn signal bulb in place in my 04 focus. This was a new grill and it upset me that it broke after 1 day, thankfully I bought this tool earlier this year for my nerf hobby and it came in clutch. It turns the squiggly "s" wire red hot in less than 10 seconds! I'll keep this little welder in my tool box for times like this.Edit: I should have said this before I submitted my review, but... please dont breathe in the plastic fumes, practice trigger safety, wait for the thing to cool down before attempting to remove the welder or before inserting another wire, and make sure the wire seats all the way.

Fantastic bargain works nicely
First, if using continually for more than 5 minutes (flat smoothing tip), it will kick in the overheat circuit and shutdown.. takes about 15 minutes to cool... When using the staples, the repeated on-off cycle as you let the staple cool, pull it off, reload, it will run for a very long time (I did 30 staples in a row). Paid for itself first time repairing a wheelbarrow and a birdbath. Not for a repair shop, but great for home use. Heat up and staple placement takes seconds... be patient after placing staple and let cool about 5 seconds, then pull gun off staple. Only regret is I did not buy this long ago.

Superb results!
It was so simple to use! If you have kids and they ride quads…..you must have one of these tools! This makes a strong, reliable, seamless repair in seconds!!! I dropped the body of my sons quad five times trying to reposition it on my bench, every repair I made made the body stronger and more solid than before. From the top side of the plastics it’s difficult to even tell it’s been cracked and repaired!!!! I have repaired the plastic shoots on my riding mowers, plastic quad fenders and mounting points on the quad body, trash can lids, etc. !!!! I was holding out for the newer hea eaten

One of the best purchases I've made
I have used this on several item to a plastic bowl, lunch box, and heavy duty dump wagon. It made the dump wagon repair so that is was better and more stable than when it was new.

Cool
About time these came out,I love it. 1st use/practice was on the city trash bin. Had a 4” split on lid but not any longer. Easy to use with great results. You will want a Dremel tool to file the tips smooth. But Great item

Somewhat useful, mostly disappointment
I’ve only used it twice so far, just about 25 staples. The staples bite is so weak that even if you let it cool completely it often pulls out when you go to pull the stapler off of it. It said bumpers, so I used it for my bumper. In the places where I was also able to reinforce my repair with the zip ties it held. The rest came apart before it even got the bumper back on the car. So if you’re asking for any strength from your repairs, look elsewhere.

Works well and saves money
I bought this to repair a freezer door shelf which broke when a package of frozen meat fell on it. The welder worked well and gave me a durable repair. The only downside is the wire ends which are sharp. I covered them with foam/tape or Shoe Goo to a avoid scratching myself. Not pretty but saved me $100 that it would have cost to buy a replacement shelf.
