Very good engineering tool
Perfect for engineering, very durable and accurate. Use is easy specially on edges. The tickmarks vary by measurement and are easy to read. Looks very sturdy and can be beaten on a little bit before showing signs of wear. I’ve had this for class and use it everyday.

Very good value
I bought ten of these for a middle school math club. The quality is good for the price. As opposed to something I read in one of the answered questions, the scales are indeed engraved, or rather cast into the plastic, so they should wear very well. One of the darling students went after one with a sharp metal straightedge and ruined the edge of one of the scales. That's just plain vandalism, but indicates that the plastic is not super hard. Very good for showing the concept and advantages of scales made in engineering units rather than architects'.

I use it all the time!
I use these scales all the time for work. I also buy them for my work team to use. Sure you can pay extra for a fancy metal one but this one does just as good of a job for a much better cost! I find the white plastic ones easier to read with my aging eyes

I've been using these for Staedtler scales for 30 years and have never come across on that didn't have a colored strip to distinguish the sides. Very inconvenient, why would they change that??
