Tilda's Toy Box: Sewing patterns for soft toys and more from the magical world of Tilda

I pre-ordered this book because I fell in love with the adorable doll on the book's cover. As I waited for the book's release, I became concerned that once it arrived I might be disappointed. I am not disappointed at all! In addition to the two sizes of dolls, their clothes, and accessories there are three lovely pieced quilts, a house handbag, a house shaped sewing kit, cushions to match the quilts, monkeys, whales, garland/banner, snake (eek!), parrots, and a small clasp purse. There are also instructions for fashioning three different fun themed rooms using all of the projects; in doll, sea, and jungle themes. I appreciated the instruction given for safety when it comes to small parts that pose choking hazards and the materials used for the toys we sew for small children. The hair of the dolls is painted on with a non-toxic textile paint. The brand that Tone recommends is not carried on Amazon US but I’m going to instead use Black Acrylic Paint mixed with a bit of Textile Medium that I have on hand and have used before on similar fabric painting projects. As is typical of "Tilda" books, the instructions are not comprehensive. There are no general or basic instructions, so a knowledge of sewing, piecing, and finishing the quilts is required or another source material will be needed to complete these projects. A beginner may have some trouble constructing these designs. All measurements are given in both inches and millimeters. The pattern templates are all full size but they don't include seam allowances.

This is the cutest book! Easy instructions and patterns included! Just flipping through the pages gives so much inspiration to sew! I purchased this book used but it was in mint brand new condition!

I have yet to see something that came from Tone Finnanger that was not beautiful and an inspiration for anyone who loves crafts and working with fabrics. This book is no exception and well worth the money with lots of cute designs and patterns. I bought every single book she published as soon as I could get my hands on it and I will keep doing so. This is a great book for making things for children, but also for young at heart grown ups. F. e. I used the basic doll pattern and gave it a nurse outfit as a gift for a pediatric nurse. As always with Tilda, there are really no limits to utilizing the patterns for different themes.

Loved Loved this book, I ordered a boy doll from Etsy and it was so adorable, then I saw they were called Tilda dolls, I saw this book and had to have it, colorful pictures and good instructions ... I used to make cloth dolls, so now Im going to try to make these cute ones. This was my second book from this Author...

Almost all the images for the all the projects are available online so there weren't many surprises in terms of knowing what projects would be inside the book. Just disappointed that there were no guidelines for painting the hair on the doll, no pattern, no nothing, just free form painting which was a huge letdown for me with this book. Other than that, I loved it. Just don't know how I'm going to figure out how to draw the hair outline on the doll head to get it to look like the doll in the book. Also, I've never heard of the fabric paint used for the hair and don't even know if it can be purchased in the US. The book recommends buying it from Panduro Hobby in the UK!

I am definitely going to order this book after being able to preview it! I love these toys! Reviewing a book is a great way to see if it’s really what you’re looking for.

Wonderful book with lots of projects

Very good book for handmade, a lot of designers projects to make a child's room more cozy & beautiful. All instructions and patterns included, just buy cotton fabric and stuff and start sewing! ;)

Tilda Buch zum lernen und Basteln. Wer andere tilda Bücher hat wird einiges alte wiederfinden aber für Leute die es zum ersten Mal kaufen ist es TOP. Die schlechten Rezensionen kann ich nicht richtig folgen. Hat ja nicht jeder alle Bücher.

Las que hemos comprado más libros de Tilda ya sabemos cómo es el estilo de las explicaciones... se ve todo muy claro, se entiende genial y es muy fácil trabajar con él. Las muñequitas de este libro, así como los cojines, monitos, ballenas y pescados, son súper cucos. Vale mucho la pena hacer la inversión, me cuesta creer que a alguien no le enternezca una muñequilla de éstas.

Como lo dije anteriormente, excelente libro para los amantes de hacer muñecos de tela. Un libro muy bien elaborado y de muy buena calidad, ideal para hacer un regalo.
