Love Around The Corner: A New Milton Novella

An adorable not-so-short-story
This not-so-short-story is considered an intermediate in the New Milton series but could be hands down one of my favourite pairings. Out of all the couples in the series this one feels more raw, more real and honestly dealing with a real dilemma of their own making (unlike Luca and Theo, where there was mostly misunderstandings, Joe and Ollie where Joe was mostly stalling due to personal trauma. I would say Finn and Josh still have a really "big deal" weighing between them so they dont count). So what is it about? Alfie and Leo both have an online friend that shares their Jane Austen preference (#relatable) and they get along with them fine. When they finally decide to meet their online halves, Leo quickly realises that Alfie, who he thought despised him, is his online boyfriend. Shenanigans ensue as Leo tries to stay away but can't and Alfie falls in love with the prickly hipster. Eventually things get revealed, BIG drama ensues but we do get a HEA as per Malcolm's solemn promise. Honestly one of the only reasons I can sometimes deal with the true emotional grid Malcolm throws at us, is that I KNOW she will give us HEA. We might have to work for it and wait but it will come.Overall I think this one was a little gem. NO idea why the rating is lower than the rest of the series.

A sweet tale
A sweet take set in a seaside town. There is something very comforting about Sally Malcolm,'a story. Two likeable leads and a HEA ending. Recommended

Liked the characters, but not the main theme of the story
This author is new to me, and while I didn't really love this story, I would read more. I rather liked the characters, and I love the premise of two people who know each other in real life falling for each other online. Unfortunately, I really dislike stories where one character has a big secret and avoids telling the truth until they have no choice; I find I'm just a bit stressed throughout the story, waiting for the big disagreement. I know this is a personal thing, but I can't really give it four stars as I wouldn't read it again.

Two lonely souls live close to each other but don't know each other
Very nice story about two people who lives close to each other but do not really know each other. They both mean to each other till something happen they become closer to each other. There's a secret which can destroy everything they built to find themselves. Everyone needs another one and not to be alone.

A sweet little Christmassy novella....
4.5 stars from me. 💖💙💚💛💜 A frenemies/do-over/second chances read...full of feels and Christmassy scenes. This ties in nicely with the New Milton world that Sally has created, starting with Perfect Day and continuing with Between the Lines, which comes out next month.LLB and Camaro89 are close online friends and now they are meeting up for the first time. Little do they realise that they do actually know each other in real life, and those meetings haven't gone so well 😕. Misunderstandings abound...I'll leave this one here and hope you enjoy this little Xmas cracker as much as I did.

Christmas gayness
Oh I love how the Jane Austen references tumble over each other to tell this story. The ending is just as it should be and the pathway the one that we want but the joy in the re-telling is palpable.

Lovely Christmas novella
You won't want to miss this delightful Christmas novella set in the charming sea side town of New Milton that Sally Malcolm has created.Alfie and Leo started talking online over their love of classic books. They're soul mates, right? What could possibly go wrong when they eventually meet in person??Turns out, quite a lot....Living in a small town they do their best to avoid each other after a disastrous encounter the previous Christmas. They've come to their own conclusions about each other.Alfie is sick and tired of the sarcastic comments thrown his way from the sassy bookstore owner,Leo.(of course I loved Leo...skin tight jeans and sass always work for me) And Alfie might be gorgeous and moody but Leo isn't about to forget 'that' encounter in a hurry.Sally Malcolm is fast becoming one of my favourite MM romance Authors. She always gets the chemistry just right between her characters.I loved the inclusion of some quotes from classic books( I even bought one,I was so interested).Recommended read.

Enchanting, heart-wrenching, book-loving novella
This book tugged on all my heartstrings with this retelling of the classic Shop Around the Corner tale. I usually hate plots centered around lies but the emotional conflict was so beautifully drawn I understood why it was happening even as I teared up at how horribly this would go when the truth came out. And then I cried happy tears at the grand gesture and the epilogue. This love story was just so touching and was an excellent touch of nerdy, bookish, sweet Christmas cheer. Highly recommended!

Lovely, evocative story
Such a lovely novella! Sally Malcolm writes very evocative stories with characters easy to identify with. Alfie and Leo demonstrate well how first impressions can be misleading and I loved to follow them to unlearn those. There is a plethora of classic literature references, but done in a way that feels natural to the story.

Creative Deeds Reads Review
You may or may not have heard this on this blog before, but I honestly need to pay more attention when I pick up a book. The description sounded fun and to be perfectly honest, I may have known that this was part of a series when I downloaded it, but when I started reading it, I had no idea that it was part of the New Milton series. Which is more than slightly embarrassing because I was so hoping that there would be more books in this series after I read Perfect Day. If you want a real chuckle, make sure you follow the links so you can read my previous reviews on both Perfect Day and Between the Lines. Seems there’s a theme to my crazy reading with this series. 😀There weren’t a lot of surprises in Love Around the Corner, at least not for the reader. Alfie and Leo, however, had no clue what was really going on. One of them was clued in a lot sooner than the other – and that’s when things really got interesting. Even though most of Love Around the Corner was totally predictable, it was still a short, sweet, fun read that fit in perfectly with the rest of the New Milton series. It can be read as a stand alone (after all, that’s what I thought I was reading – at the time.) I’d totally recommend you starting from the beginning – which I may actually do one day. 😉
