Josh's Frogs 32 oz Fruit Fly Cup and Fabric Lid- 20 Pack

Josh’s containers and lids are top notch. Perfect for growing flightless fruit fly colonies. Tops have a mesh for air flow. Not the cheapest product but the lids and containers fit without excessive pressure like the mismatch lids and container on other sellers deli cups.

Been using Josh's Frogs fruit fly cups for years and they are super great to make cultures out of! Very spacious cups for more production, but also easy to get flies out of when you need them in comparison to the very short fruit fly cultures I've seen at stores sometimes. Fabric lid is great for ventilation without flies escaping. My only gripe is I wish they weren't so expensive for plastic cups.

I buy these every time now. Much better than the pin hole lids. Keep the flies in and have never had a crashed culture using these.

Is an excellent product! Tons of flies

The cups are very flimsy, so if you press down to hard the cups will break. But if you take the lid of and on it will eventually fit better. The cups are also not see through they are more opaque with about a 1 inch section at the top where it’s clear. But they are the cheapest I can find them so I will purchase again.

Got a regal jumping spider female. Seller said she was bred and not wild caught. They lied. I now had a bimonthly subscription to the Bucket O Spiders club. I needed to make both fruit fly cultures AND contain slings (baby spiders / spiderlings) in containers that were breathable but with NO GAPS to slip through. For spiderlings, flip upside-down and elevate on a wire rack (so that the air filter on bottom can breathe. You can poke tiny pinholes for extra air using a very thin gauge needle. This should hold your slings for a few weeks (people advise separating them before this but I luckily didn’t have much of an issue). For flies, leave right-side up and use as intended. You can reuse these if you have the stomach to wash them after the fruit fly medium inside… marinates and degrades. The containers themselves are sturdy enough for reuse. Filters can be lightly scrubbed to clean most residue off (contaminants would still be present, so not a good practice if you’re a research lab). Worked great for the 8 Buckets O Spiders I had to raise and their endless supply of food I had to raise (both drosophila melanogaster and drosophila hydei. Never did bottle flies though). Honestly? If you like bugs, these are great to just have on hand. Much better than the Jar of Doom (jar with holes in lid).

I have ruined a few of these containers when trying to put the lids on. The lids are annoyingly just a bit off in size, so its a manuver to get them back on. If you put any pressure at all, the containers will crack right down the whole side. If you have a bunch of flies in there, it becomes a mess really quickly. The containers do work, though. I like the lids.

They are exactly what they say they are and haven't broken down on me.
