These things last for years. I use the bags that are made for it and there's no mess anymore like the old days. The suction stays strong. You don't have to take a bath when you clean it if you use the bags. Naturally, don't use the bags if you are sucking up water or damp stuff. If you do, and you don't clean it up immediately, you are in for a surprise the next time you turn it on.....it will mold.

Replaced original blue/gray version of same model I’ve had over 25 years that finally gave up the ghost. Same outstanding suction, filter bag option, long hose, durable electric cord and BETTER caster wheels. I use for dry pickup only. Have something else dedicated for wet pick up.Replaceable installable dirt bag same as in original version lasts forever and with internal pleated filter canister which comes already installed there is zero noticeable dust in exhaust output. Easy to assemble just follow the simple instructions anyone can do it with half their brain tied behind their back! Only need a flat head screw driver or better a correct sized hex head socket and ratchet or driver. Caster wheels snap in easily with forcefol press & twist - just wet the top of the shank head with some saliva for lubrication before pushing them into the slots. Priced right.

Love that it can be used with or without a vaccuum bag. Has lots of onboard storage. Easy to carry. Works really well!Only downside is the lid pops off easily when carrying.

I have bought 3 regular vacuums for tons of dog hair, all claim they are pet vacuums and they always clog or break within a week, no joke. Just put this shop vac together today and it picks up dog hair like a champ! I have tile floors. It also picks up hair off the carpeting in the bedrooms. If you are having problems finding a vacuum to pick up the pet hair or anything for that matter, Shop-Vac is the way to go I promise! I would also get the Shop-Vac brand not the knockoffs! I also promise you that this is not a fake review. I don't think I've ever bought anything that I gave five stars on Amazon. When you do your research, reading reviews, be sure to go down and find the one-star reviews because they always seem to put those at the end of the review so people don't see them! I learned my lesson the hard way with that. Again the Shop-Vac is amazing!

Great suction and durable!

I had a small shop vac that lasted about 18 years. I had no complaints about it.When it no longer turned on, I naturally bought another one.This new one is just terrible. The cord is only like 3 or 4 feet long so I had to buy an extension cord for it. I’m not at all happy about spending extra money. The top often comes off while I’m using it.I won’t be buying another Shop Vac.

The assembly was much more difficult than needs be. The cord could certainly be longer. As a vacuumcleaner for household use this machine is more than adequate. Suction is powerful and the unit is light and maneuverable.
