Works great on my thick, wavy, inches-long hair
My best friend recommended this styler because my hair is growing back after chemo. My friend has one and loves it and since she knows how picky I am about my hair, I trusted her recommendation. My hair is very wavy, so I keep it shoulder-length and blow-dry it using a large round brush to straighten it. I was initially very dubious that this brush-style appliance would be able to straighten my hair to my satisfaction--it's REALLY wavy and thick and just growing in, mind you--but I knew I could return it if it didn't work. Am I ever glad I listened to my friend! The Simply Straight is a lifesaver for me. I have to hold it over each section of hair for a long time for the heat to penetrate, but it straightens out the thick, unruly waves. (I could adjust the heat up beyond the normal 350-degree setting, but I don't want to damage my hair since it's just growing in.) Now I'm curious to see how well it will straighten once my hair reaches shoulder-length. Maybe I'll be saying "Buh bye" to my blow dryer by year's end!

This is the best thing I've purchased for my hair in a LONG ...
This is the best thing I've purchased for my hair in a LONG time. I have shoulder length curly hair with a spot that has serious wave right at the crown. With a traditional straight iron it takes 40-45 minutes to straighten my hair, so it doesn't happen often. With Simply Straight, it takes 10 minutes tops. I was introduced to it by a friend who has had 4 wrist surgeries in the past year, and it took her all of 15 minutes to straighten my hair. I do wish it came with a heatproof glove, but aside from that it is worth every penny and my old flat iron will be going to the donation bin.

Quick and somewhat easy to use
If the handle were a bit more narrow it would be perfect and easier to hold. But that’s just a matter of getting use holding it so as not to touch the buttons. I do like it. Tames the frizz. It would sometimes start with temperature not in Fahrenheit. It works well every time.

Not for certain textures of African American hair, it didn't work on mines.
This is made for people that already have straight hair or from soft texture to straightening but not for African American hair, I have long hair yes I'm African American but I don't use perm, so it didn't work for my coarse African hair, it will work on a coarse caucasian hair but not my type of coarse, I wind up throwing it away.

Works on natural black hair.
This product definitely works for black women with very thick coarse hair. I haven't had a perm/ relaxer in nearly 2 years. This brush heats up fully in about 10 minutes and completely straightens my very curlly nappy hair perfectly. I didn't think it would work on black women's hair, but it does work.

When the product works, it is my favorite hair straitener.
I love the product when it works. I've had to purchase 3. One was lost/stolen, my second one only worked for a few minutes and stopped heating over 160, I'm on my 3rd and this one takes the longest to heat up, but when it reaches the temp I like it works great.

Excellent! Would recommend for a nice smooth style.
Excellent for my pre teen to use with her long curly hair. I was worried giving my younger child a hot hair tool but she uses thid like a pro! It gives her hair a smooth style and tames the fly aways. Does not make your hair stick straight like flat irons do, instead of the fake straight style a flat iron gives This straightens hair leaving some body as well. I don’t think it would work very well on short hair because it needs tension on both ends of hair to work.

good for long hair
I wanted to love this brush, but it was a little cumbersome to use. It was heavy to hold and did not straighten my hair as I would have liked. the bristles get very hot, so be careful not to touch them. It might work better on verylong hair.
