REVIEW PROPER APPLICATION ON LINE BEFORE APPLYING!
I promise you this is an honest review. I am an experienced henna and indigo user. I usually order my products from Henna Sook, but I needed some without having to wait for a long delivery. Despite the negative reviews, I took a chance. I always henna my hair first, rinse that out with a little conditioner added, just to get the comb through, then mix the indigo with just distilled warm water and a pinch of salt. Unlike henna, INDIGO MUST BE APPLIED WITHIN 15 minutes of mixing, AND i LEAVE IT ON FOR 2-3 HOURS. I only apply indigo to my edges and roots, so the rich henna color will stay on my long strands. The indigo was too effective. I accidentally darkened too much of the long front strands. The indigo is still in my hair. This WORKS WELL. However, I am concerned that others that actually did the application correctly may have received a bogus product. Luckily, this one bag will last me a while, and then I will review the latest reviews to see if there have been any additional negative reviews before purchasing again.

Good quality, achieved a dark black when used over henna.
Dark and works great! I received a fresh batch -- the powder is finely milled, the dye release is fast and using it on my greying black hair with henna in a 2-step method gave a deep soft black. Just plain henna alone gives me a very bright orange on my grays that isn't flattering, so I prefer to overdye with indigo for a more natural look. I used very warm water and added sea salt to the mixture. A little went a long way. Be sure to wear gloves when dyeing and rinsing out, it will stain your hands and nails -- and your sink if you don't clean up promptly. The price is great too, comparable to the powdered indigo I would buy in Asia.

Definitely get it for natural black colored hair
I love this product. This is 100% natural and I don't have any side effects while using it. I first apply henna on my hair and later after washing it, I use Indigo powder. I love how it turns my hair black naturally. The color stays on for 3 weeks and then the roots start to look gray. I'm not even in my 30's and I have a lot of gray hair. I don't want to go for dyes and all, since it causes a lot of hair damage. I want to mention a few points about this powder:1. It does smell a bit. Not sure if it is the smell of the powder or if it is supposed to smell like that. Might annoy some people. But, the smell goes away with washing.2. I'd be very mindful if having color on my hand annoys me a bit. This will leave some color on your hand especially the nail bed if you apply with bare hands.3. Similarly, I'd also use a cloth or something on my pillow after I wash it off. I don't immediately use shampoo, I use it the next day, therefore I have some leakage on my pillowcase. Similarly, when you wash for the first time after a few days of applying, your shower might turn black (Don't worry, goes away with water). But, again not sure if this is a product thing or a brand thing.I have tried another brand from a nearby Indian store, and that doesn't leak, it doesn't smell this strong either. Overall, if I keep aside the smell I'd buy this product again. This brand has my trust. It is 100% organic. Additionally, I have medium-length hair, and one packet lasts three times. That is like $3 or so, for coloring your hair naturally at home without any side effects.Lastly, for the people with colored hair or with highlights. Be careful, guys. I made the mistake of applying the powder on my entire hair ( scalp as well as the length). The highlights also turned black (Lol!). Eventually, the color comes back after 2-3 washes, but something to avoid if you don't like your highlights colored black.

Like it very much
I've been using henna for years. I just buy lawsonia inermis with no other ingredients. Some people dislike henna as it can come out bright orange when coloring light colored hair first time. But since I use henna regularly it's a very deep red and I truly do like it. If you ever henna your hair and find it bright orange, just henna it again and it will look more natural! Anyway, I wanted to experiment a little so thought I'd buy indigo as well. It's similar to henna in that it's a natural herb that doesn't really harm your hair.Researching a bit on the internet, I've found women with different color shades of hair (black, deep blue, light blue & brown) saying they used indigo. The reason why people get different results is a variety of factors. It matters what color your hair is when you put it on, also, the ratio of indigo powder to henna powder if you apply it together. It also matters if you apply it alone without henna, if you used henna previously and when, how long you leave it in your hair, etc.I thought I'd just tell you what I did. I have had a deep red for years because I use henna at least every 3 weeks. I do like it but just wanted a change. I definitely didn't want to lose all my red hair. Also, I definitely didn't want it black. I just wanted my deep red but to add in more medium brown. I just did it today and the results are exactly what I was hoping for. Here's what I did...I took 1 + 1/4 cup of the lawsonia inermis and mixed it well with warm/hot water in a plastic container. I let it sit for about 45 minutes. Then I stirred it up and added in 1/3 cup of this indigo powder. I immediately then applied it all on my hair and scalp. I put a trash bag over my hair and then just did stuff around the house for about 2 hours. I rinsed my hair in cold/warm water. I don't shampoo immediately after henna but I do apply a conditioner for 5 minutes and rinse again. I did the same this time. My favorite is any of the Shea Moisture conditioners, they seem to work well for me. So, that's it.I plan to continue using henna, but will add the indigo in as well when I'm wanting my shade to have more brown in it. I'd highly recommend using and experimenting with natural products like this versus regular chemical hair coloring. I know my hair has been a lot healthier since I made the change over. Anyway, happy with purchase and would buy again.

Bad
Not a good indigo power. Left it on for hours it didn't srain good at all. Parts of my roots you could see the bronze color of the henna and other roots were green from the indigo. Will not buy this indigo powder again.
