Excellent item for basic purposes

These couplers are pin 2-5 to 5-2 at each end. Which means that for example, on one side you may have BK,R,G,Y input wires, and then the other side will have Y,G,R,BK... effectively reversed.As most standard RJ11 phone cables are configured to "pass through" end-end pin out (color), using a standard cable with this coupler will result in reversed pin outs at the end point. To confirm a pass through cable, place the RJ11 connector ends facing away from each other and observe the wire color sequence is the same.In order to make these couplers work, you will likely need a "straight" wired RJ11 cable. That is, when you put the RJ11 connectors side by side, the same wire color sequence is seen. When you put the connectors end to end, this cable type will appear to be reversed. The attached picture to this review is for a "straight" wired RJ12 6 wire cable, but a similar configuration will apply to a 4 wire cable.

Unfortunately this item did not work for me and I would like to return it. It was sized for a smaller phone cord and I could not tell that from the pictures but anyway it didn’t work for me.

This item is not straight wired, but is reverse wired, and will not work in my installation. Ordered two more and tried to cancel that order before it shipped when I found out, but it was too late.
