Anthony's Organic Guayusa Leaves, 1 lb, Gluten Free, Non GMO, Naturally Caffeinated

I used to live in the Amazon jungle and drank guayusa religiously as it is believed to help enhance the dream state (which it does). But only the fresh, non-dried leaf will do the trick. On returning to the US, I was pleasantly surprised to find loose leaf guayusa here on Amazon and purchased some. While the dried leaf does NOT enhance the dream state, I was happy with the caffeinated oomph it gave me and I continued to drink it for years. This was the Runa brand. And then something happened to their quality. So I switched over to Anthony's and I'm so glad I did. The leaf is fresher, greener and more vibrant - both to look at and taste-wise. Although it is not as concentrated as Runa's tea, you can easily adjust the intensity by adding an extra spoon or half-spoon. I'm now hooked on Anthony's and will not be going back to Runa whose tea looks old, dark and just a little "off" compared to Anthony's...

To start, this is a fresher green Guayusa tea, (Unlike Runa which tends to be brown, older). When you smell this Guayusa you can tell that it still contains some of the original oils of the original plant. They cut the leaves medium grade which makes it easily flow through tea strainers.Waykana is another amazing (green) Guayusa tea, but they cut theirs in a much finder grade which can clog tea strainers. I like to mix this bag of Anthony's with a bag of Waykana which is a little stronger caffeine wise. You can always add more leaves if you want more caffeine, but I like the combination of the two.If you've tried Runa before, you'll most likely try this brand or Waykana and stop purchasing Runa all together.I'm happy that Runa exists, but their leaves are brown and there have been many reports of mold in their bags, most likely because they source from over 2000 farmers and have become a much larger company that cannot control the quality.

I needed almost double as much leaf per cup to achieve my desired brew strength. Flavor and color were okay but both were def on the light side. I went back to a different brand.

I have been happy with this Guayusa. I haven’t tried other brands, apart from the bottled Guayusa teas, but it does have a fresh taste and makes a very nice tea. As a caffeine source, it works better for me than traditional green tea, black tea, coffee, and even mate. I do wish they would put the number of servings (even approximately) on the bag- it would really be helpful!

Great quality guayusa. The leaves were fresh and brewed up nicely. The bag is huge as well. I drink it for the caffeine as it gives you a smooth pick me up. It's nice with a bit of honey.

I mix with another tea so I'm not sure how strong it is but my mate looks like dirt next to this
