I am an older woman with weak hands. I bought a .38 inch under mat rug with thin n real rubber backing. I cut through problem. Easy with these cutters. NO PROBLEMS! Little force. Great product!

Thus scissor rocks! I like to reduce the volume of plastic recycles and, comically, upon opening the box, the packaging's print announced: that it's easy to cut anything you like into small pieces. (I've since learned that in Japan, recyclables, kept to a minimum, are commonly carried in small portions to collection points rather than stored at home — space being at a premium.) Well, this scissor works as advertised: it cuts easily through plastic — and grabs the plastic while cutting due to the subtle ridges along the blade's facing edges; the offset angle of the handle keeps one's hand out of harm's way; and the slide lock works! Also, the adjustable blade opens to a wider width if desired. It slides right through softer plastic packaging as well. For an additional benefit, the sprung squeeze handles don't hurt my arthritic thumb.

Great scissors! I’ve purchased 7 of these scissors. I have one pair in the garage, one in the kitchen and one pair upstairs. The others have been given as small gifts. If you need an inexpensive item for a gift exchange, this is the one that will really be appreciated. The angled handle and spring action makes cutting through cardboard or thin plastic packages so easy. I also love how easy it is to keep the scissors securely closed. I didn’t order all 7 pairs all at once. I ordered one pair, then a few months later I’d order 2 more, giving them as gifts, and then I’d need to order some more. At first I only kept one pair of scissors but ended up keeping 3 because I was tired of going back and forth every time I needed to use them.

Nicely weighted, the functionality of the angle present in the blade becomes immediately evident upon usage, I can tell the angle makes it so much easier to work with. Spend the extra bit to get these over the smaller ones. Decent size and grip, works well with gloves too. For a hefty job, you may want something like mechanix gloves, other wise you’ll need to take breaks more often unless you’ve got burly hands. Initial reaction was they were very easy to use, effective at cutting, and comfortable to hold. Easily shreds through thick material, wouldn’t be surprised if it could open or cut through thin metals as well. I don’t remember what packaging they came in, but I recommend scissors to cut open the package they came in, in case it’s hard to open. In terms of the ease of opening up the carpet floor, I imagine it’s great. I used it to cut up an old rug of mine because I didn’t want to pay to throw it away. These cost less than the fee to toss it, lol. And I couldn’t give it away either, even though it would have been nice if I could have.

I was able to cut up my carpet pretty easily once I got the hang of which direction to hold them. My carpet was fairly thick so it was good.

Great scissors for garden, kitchen and garage. Stays sharp and well built. I keep buying them because I keep losing them, or possibly they're walking away with other people who find them as helpful as I do.

These are exceptional shears. I have a pair already and purchased another so my sister could get on removing her old carpets in advance of me arriving with the new laminate flooring. She was able to cut through the carpets with ease. Fabulous product.

Bought these heavy-duty scissors after new carpets were installed, mainly to cut the old ones into manageable pieces for transport to the recycling centre. They handled both carpet and underlay with ease. For the underlay, cutting from the opposite side to the foam layer made things much quicker and cleaner. Strong, sharp and comfortable to use, making the job far easier than expected - hope this helps.
