ESSENTIAL, absolutely ESSENTIAL
Every single review who said they help tremendously in apartment use were true. I don't know about those who say your neighbors won't hear anything at all, but they will help A LOT. I have a Shockwafe 9.2.4 and with those 2 10 in woofers this system pounds. Loud. It would literally make the wall shake to a point where my landlord told me if there's one more complaint I will have to move out. Since then I would never go above 1 on my bass settings. 1!! Now I finally got my Shockwafe bacl where it belongs. It can finally breathe. I still can't even come close to half of what it can handle but believe me the bass has been up to 3 all day volume 34 and no problems. I'll try going up to 4 soon, carefully of course. I haven't even talked about the actual bass itself. Those reviews are true as well. The bas does sound better. It sounds cleaner. Like it has better resolution. Best way I can explain it. It's like listening to Spotify then you get hifi headphones get a subscription to tidal and listen to a track in HiRes audio for the first time. It's still the same song you've heard a thousand times, but it's like you're hearing it for the first time. That's how these subdudes make my subs sound. I've used them for years but it's like I'm hearing them for the first time. Enjoy everyone

Worth ever penny, sorry, nickel.
What I can say that others haven't? This actually works. I live in an apartment with shody build quality. You can feel the bass throughout the subfloor. Now with the sudude, it eliminated pretty much all vibration in the subfloor, walls tables, console, etc. I still have to fine tune the sub and settings but wow, the sub hits hard and tight. Not muddy at all as before. Plus my turnable plays much clearer. Will my downstairs neighbor complain. Maybe not so much as before. I'll have to try out other products from Auralex. Definitely a must have for apartment/condos or even home to get a better sounding sub. FYI, I have a Klipsch R-100SW. Probably not the best sub but sounds much better now with subdude.

A simple product but a sonic revelation
I use 2 subs and suffer from quirky room characteristics that cause placement issues / considerable room gain. Because of the former, I'm somewhat restricted in where the subs can be located. Looking for solutions to these issues, I came across this Auralex products and thought it's definitely worth a try given it wasn't a huge investment and the isolation platform looks inconspicuous compared to room treatments which look unsightly. The product is well finished and barely visible at all once installed. I'm sure you want to know about the sonic impact, so i'll talk a little bit about that. All i can say is this simple product makes a huge amount of difference to the bass produced. I re-ran audyssey XT32 calibration and the results for the two subs had completely changed. There was now very little level difference between them and the distances had reduced, to almost exactly what they measure (audyssey added 25% to measurements to account for room and phase issues) The low end - 22hz and below - is much tighter and cleaner, and has now stopped rattling the walls whilst still retaining that low-end room pressurising bass. The mid-range bass - 25-40hz - is warmer and richer. Overall the sound is more articulate and less flappy, with a smoother crossover / roll-off towards the 60hz point (where i cross my fronts) In summary, this product is fantastic, Remember that the frequencies where a sub operates (below 120hz) is at the mercy of the room characteristics, so room correction becomes crucial. Audyssey helps, but it can't work miracles so If you are struggling to place your sub / subs and/or have limited options, give Auralex a try.

Expensive, but does just what I want it to do!
Let me start with the elephant in the room. If you visit the major audio/visual forums (A/V forums, home-theater forums, sterephile, etc) you'll find no shortage of strong opinions on these products. One camp claims that no significant difference has been measured, and thus these products are snake-oil and a waste of money. The other camp will tell you that whether it can be measured or not, *something* was rattling when the sub rumbled, and that this product diminished (or stopped) that from happening. Look - I don't live in acoustically treated rooms. My listening areas are open floor plans, hardwood floors, decor attached to the walls, etc. And while I certainly enjoy sparkling treble & generous midrange - I also love a good undercurrent of controlled bass. My home theater has two corner loaded subwoofers that will easily rattle windows/doors/pictures on the wall. I just got used to it and thought there was nothing to be done about it except turning down the sub. So, when I added some bookshelf speakers and a small sealed sub to my home-office, I was very disappointed to experience that same rattling going on just a few feet from my head. Turn off the sub - rattling abates. So - on a whim, I grabbed one of those 1" thick dense foam workout mats and threw it under my office sub. The difference was instantaneous. Did it stop the rattling and vibrations completely? Nope, but it made so much of an immediate improvement - I ordered an Auralex SubDude II that day. A few days later, the SubDude II arrives and is installed. I'm able to play the sub louder - and the sound is clean, w/o the annoying vibrations and such that I had previously experienced. Does the SubDude II eliminate "the shakes" entirely? Nope, but darn close to it. I tend to play the sub crossed over low, and at a volume where most often it's very difficult to tell that there is a sub activated at all. That said, in music with heaps of low-end (EDM for example), or bombastic action movies - there is still some slight vibration escaping. It's so minor though, it's not an issue. So - I'm not trying to convince you that this is the end-all, be-all solution for excess rattling caused by your sub. However, it's very, VERY easy to test out the theory without even purchasing this product. My tests showed that w/o any sound isolation under the sub - I would get a lot of vibration transmission and wouldn't be able to play the sub to it's full capacity. With *some* cheap sound isolation in place, I could detect a significant improvement. With the SubDude, it almost eliminated the excess vibration and allowed me to use the sub much more fully. *Epilogue After listening to the improvement in my home office, I tried the SubDude II in my home-theater where I have two opposite-corner loaded subs. It was an immediate improvement whether under my sealed 10", or ported 8".

Musical material sounded live and not like a boombox ramped up past clipping
On opening the box and examining the SubDude II, my first thought was "this is a seriously overpriced piece of plywood and foam". After placing my sub (Sunfire True subwoofer EQ12) on the platform and repeating all of the setup equalization, standing wave and phase adjustments etc for the sub and then for the entire speaker system combined, my only thought was "this is an incredible value". Virtually all of the subs coupling to the building was gone. No rattling windows and doors, no framed artwork vibrating on the walls, no subwoofer walking around the room, no small objects falling from shelves. Musical material sounded live and not like a boombox ramped up past clipping. The subwoofer could not be localized and simply disappeared into the music leaving only an enriched sound stage. LFE's in theatrical material set the mood and captured your attention as the director intended with out the distraction of localization of the sub and stray vibrations from building and furnishings. The annoying sensation that the sub was coupled through the floor directly to my but was gone (except when it was clearly the intent of director (ie Terminator 2 and 3) Finally I no longer have to drag a very heavy sub back to its proper place in the room after each use. It really did subdue an over zealous (1400 amps in the box) subwoofer adding dramatic sonic enrichment with out focusing your attention on the unit.

Works! Definitely not snake oil
Works! Had a noise complaint from my next door neighbor in my high-rise condo about bass sounds and eventually bought this. With some additional fine tuning of the subwoofer settings (lowering the Hz, slightly raising volume) and placing my sub on this, my neighbor said he doesn't hear anything at all and I still get great punch from my movies, music and games. Sound actually does sound cleaner probably because it eliminates all the tiny vibrations from all the things that surround it like the TV stand, walls, etc. Worth every penny if you live in a small townhouse or condo to prevent the lower frequencies transferring to your neighbors.

Very strong vibration–isolating properties from this product!
Prior to purchasing this product, I had to deal with a 400W subwoofer that crawled on the floor whenever it was in use. Having some knowledge about sound-isolation mats, I decided to give this one a try. The pad is large and sturdy and strong enough to hold my 35 pound sub, And upon Installing the pad under the sub and putting the speaker back through It’s paces, I was surprised to see it no longer walked, the objects around it did not vibrate and displace itself on their surfaces, and most importantly I was able to crank it all the way up with no distortion from rattling. Definitely a recommended product!

Surprisingly effective
I purchased the Subdude as my last "hail Mary" before potentially being forced to replace my subwoofer with a higher-end sealed sub. I was experiencing ongoing bothersome bass issues with one of my home theatre setups. Hardwood floors with a Paradigm front firing, rear-ported sub, in the front corner of the room, resulting in boomy, uncontrolled bass. It was like this ugly wall of loose, muddy bass was consuming the whole front wall where my TV is, then reflecting to my seating position. Due to the room configuration, I do not have other options for placement of the sub. I started looking into room treatment options but there was no way I was going to install ugly wall mounted bass traps in a main floor family room, opposite a kitchen. I was wondering if the sub was transferring too much energy to the floor, which was then moving to the walls, causing additional resonance, generating additional sound waves, resulting in the terrible sound. I didn't have these issues when the sub was in my basement. I read hundreds of postings in different AV forums and countless reviews about the Subdude and how it will 'tighten up' bass, etc. I was thinking there's no way it can tighten up the bass but if it could potentially reduce vibrations, maybe there could be some value. Some 'haters' on the forums will say the subdude is useless and people's perception of the sound is strictly psychological. After reading a review from a professional publication, where they noted they always use an Aurelex Subdude when reviewing subwoofers, I decided to take a the plunge and gamble almost $90 on this product because I had nothing more to lose... it couldn't possibly make the sub sound worse. I installed the Subdude, actually upped the volume on my sub by 1 notch, then re-ran Audyssey room correction on my receiver, so the gain would be at -4. SVS recommends adjusting gain on the subwoofer so post calibration, it's set between -4 to -8, so I took their advice for my Paradigm sub. After manually adjusting speaker crossover settings in my receiver, I was ready to test. The sound quality difference was drastic. That ugly "wall" of bass I referred to earlier is completely gone. I am finally enjoying my sub in this room. The bass is now much cleaner and is not longer an annoying distraction. The bedroom above the sub also has less bass transfer via the walls but loud low frequency soundwaves will still easily penetrate through the floorboards. Although it may be cheaper to go to the hardware store, get a piece of wood, put some foam under it and built it yourself, I'm not sure you would get the same results, as this is firm acoustic foam and not something your furniture would be shipped in. Not all rooms are the equal. You'll have different furniture, flooring material and objects that affect sound reflection and absorption, so your results may be different but this Subdude solved my issue and saved me from potentially dropping $1000+ buying a new sub and I may have ended up with the exact same issues. I was hoping the Subdude would give a marginal improvement in sound. I was shocked how much difference it made in my situation. I'm now considering buying another Subdude for a different subwoofer. No regrets.

Works fantastic! Happy neighbours and other members of my household!
I bought this with a pinch of scepticism wondering if it would actually work for me. My new subwoofer system had been rattling, shaking my bedroom floor and most importantly, disturbing my neighbours as well as anyone sleeping later in the night. After some brief testing by walking around the house with this in place, and my subwoofer blasting, I can confidently say it reduces leaking low frequencies and cleans up any subwoofer rattle. It works! I am now able to play my music, or play games, a little comfortably louder at night without the fear of keeping anyone awake because of the rattling. The quality of the product is alright, but it essentially is a bit of wood and some foam. It's a rather simple, but very effective product. The value of this is really depends on how you'd use it. If you're living in a flat/apartment and want to prevent complaints from your neighbours while effectively allowing you to increase the volume more, I'd say it's worth your money in the long run. It has quite a sleek look, I appreciate the simpleness of it. It fit under my desk perfectly and took up barely any space at all. Overall, I rate this product a 9/10. 10/10 for sound clean-up and leakage prevention 7/10 for pricing... again it's just a bit of wood and foam, but they claim they have a high density foam that isn't quite like other brands. Whether that's just marketing bs or not, I have no idea. But I don't want to test it out either because this still works for me.
