It lasted me 12 years
I had one and it lasted a solid 12 years. It has been passed down from generation to generation. Even during my messy divorce, me and my ex-wife had a big fight about who gets to keep it, luckily, the judge ruled in my favor and I have given it a very loving home. Unfortunately, after a long battle with illness, the scale buildup finally did its number. On Friday the 7th of July 2023, it finally passed, causing a short circuit. It was given a proper burial in its loving memory. Now, I am expecting to adopt another, to give it a loving home and in hopes it will last me just as long.

Great iron
It's been mentioned before about the flex not being long, but I always use an extension lead so that wasn't an issue for me. It's quite a light iron and it glides across clothes which helps with the ironing speed. Has a good steam output and a very good price.

Headline: "Efficient, Lightweight, and Easy to Use: The Perfect Iron for Everyday Needs!"
"I recently purchased the Philips Steam Iron Easyspeed (GC1751/98), and I'm thoroughly impressed! Not only is it lightweight, making ironing sessions a breeze, but it's also incredibly easy to use. With just four settings, understanding its functions is a piece of cake. The steam boost feature is a game-changer, effortlessly tackling stubborn wrinkles with up to 100 grams of steam power. Plus, the ceramic soleplate glides smoothly over fabrics, leaving them perfectly pressed. Another highlight is its water efficiency – it takes just a tiny bit of water from the 220 ml tank to iron many T-shirts, saving both time and resources. Overall, I highly recommend this Philips steam iron for anyone looking for a reliable, efficient, and user-friendly appliance."

Excellent iron - very short cable .
For us arthritic oldies this is a really good lightweight iron , easy to fill with water and smooth in use - everything we were looking for - BUT - The power cord is simply not long enough , 6ft 2in ( 190cm ) from the iron to the plug. If you can position the bottom of your ironing board within 2 feet ( 60cm ) of a power socket , then fine , but still struggling at the end of the board , otherwise you'll need an extension cable , as did we ! This is penny-pinching and spoils an otherwise excellent product . Do we really have to bend and faff about with extension cables when the extra bit of cable , at negligible expense , would seriously improve the product ? Lack of research or just negligence - who knows !

Light but mighty
This iron is perfect for anyone that has any weakness in their wrist or hand. Don’t be mislead by the very light weight it doesn’t detract the performance of what it’s a fast heating compact iron. The lead is not very long but that’s not an issue due to where the plug socket is situated.I did think as it was so light it wouldn’t be up to much, I was totally wrong. At such a great price too that’s an added bonus. I did buy the philips Azur which is over £100 but it was too heavy for the recipient so had to send it back.
