Larry Bird from the corner...YES! Nerf Basketball from the 80's
Found it! During the NCAA tournament I set up my son's Nerf basketball hoop in the great room, looking to school him in the fundamentals of Nerf basketball like my father did before me. The only problem, those coated Nerf basketballs are way too heavy for the hoop and mom's fragile nick nacks. After searching high and low, I came to a dark realization that these yellow sponge balls were long gone....until Amazon saved me once again. Although a little softer than the original, after 1 week of continuous play (and a sore shoulder and stubbed toe), I am back to draining 3's like I did in the 80's when I should have been studying for finals.I would give it a 3 because it's really too soft and is losing it's shape....but I added a star because it brought me back to the good old days. At $6, it's a little pricey for the value, but I make a little more now than I did when I was 15. It's also a little lighter, so shooting range is limited to about 20 feet. If this were the 80's, I would have been disappointed with this ball compared to what I remembered. But this brought me back, and now I have to end this review to find the ball hidden behind the couch after a Ralph Sampson rejection from my son's weak layup attempt. (I am also remembering how these sponge balls pick up the random carpet fibers and hairs).

Just like the old Nerf Hoop Balls
My wife bought these to replace an orange nerf hoop ball I had from long ago that wore out. Nerf doesn't seem to seel those soft, lightweight ones anymore, just the heavier solid ones that don't work quite as well indoors. These aren't a perfect substitute, but they're pretty darn close.

Foam Ball
I have a two year old grandson. He loves throwing things and he has a really good arm. The dilemma was that he began throwing things at me. Thus, foam balls were the natural progression.

Not right size
This ball would have been perfect if it was 4 inches it wasn't quite 3 1/2. So disappointing.

Poor quality
These foam balls are nowhere near the quality I expected. The foam is cheap and sheds small particles rather easily. It also doesn't rebound the way a foam ball should. If you're looking for a good quality foam ball, look elsewhere.

The cost was pretty ridiculous though for a piece of foam
Just what I needed. The cost was pretty ridiculous though for a piece of foam.

Never again
These three 4" sponge balls were late and cost almost $11! Not a happy camper! Are these guys absolutely crazy?
