Munchkin 5 - DeRanged

This set is overkill. Literally. This introduced Rangers, which can tame monsters as steeds for the cost of discarding cards equal whatever treasure the monster would give normally. So, you wanna tame the Plutonium Dragon? That'll be 5 cards sent to the graveyard (YGO reference =P) And now, it is your steed and you get a +20 bonus. So this makes the game interesting, trying to take down a +40 bonus Munchkin at level 9 (or 19).But it makes it fun. This is the set that would force you do play with Epic rules. And then create some of your own epic rules! XDEDIT: I need to get my eyes check, or rather me and the other players need to. The Ranger taming bonus is equal to the number of treasures on the monster. But it was still fun the way we played it.

Super exciting to have more variety in the game. I also like that all the cards in this deck have a symbol at the bottom of the card, so if I am teaching a new person the game I can simplify it to the original and take the expansion pack out.

Every expansion I get is always new entertainment. The obscure rules and weird characters are always a new twist.

I sent the card game and several expansion packs to my son deployed in Afghanistan. He and his friends loved it.

Need a good laugh? Get your friends together and pull out this pack with the main set. Good natured laughter will ensue. Don't be the first person to try for level 10 and winning, everyone at the table will put the smack-down on you..being third is best.

De-Ranged is a 112 card expansion for the Fantasy Munchkin theme. It contains 60 door cards and 52 treasure cards. It does not introduce any new races, but it does introduce a new class: Ranger... bringing total number of races to 6. You don't need a ton of expansions to get the most out of the base game, but the base game and least two are definitely worthwhile investment.As noted in my other reviews, I own all of the Fantasy Munchkin expansions, and if I were to recommend an order to get the most new variety for your dollar, this one would be near the bottom of the list (still worthwhile, but there are several that I'd get before this one). Instead, I would suggest Munchkin Clerical Errors as it adds a race and a class, followed by Munchkin 8 Half Horse, Will Travel Card Game as it adds two races and three race/class enhancers, followed by the ones that are most interesting to you after that.

My playgroup had a lot of fun playing Munchkin especially with the expansion packs included.

Excellent, well-balanced expansion to the Munchkin universe. If you are a purist who plays mostly with the original game and the regular numbered expansion, this is a must-have. Recommended.
