Decent skin, though a bit rubbery.
Update 8/23/2014: not sure if it's more so an issue with my case or the screen protector ( Skinomi® TechSkin - Google Nexus 7 (2nd Generation) Screen Protector Premium HD Clear Film (2013) ), but some dark streaks have appeared on the screen due to the case rubbing against the screen protector and do not go away even after a cleaning with water, a cloth, and vigorous rubbing. It's been there for a few months now--it mostly doesn't bother me as I usually have the screen dimmed to save on battery, but it definitely shows up when it's bright and I notice it sometimes when watching movies. On the bright side, the Skinomi TechSkin is still in place and does its primary job--protecting the screen. The good:The screen protector is durable--it seems pretty thick. It also reads my finger movements well after application. There are cut outs for the front camera, without taking away much from protecting the screen. The bad:A bit more rubbery than some other screen protectors I've had, which might have lead to the ripple caused by my fingernail instead of a small, clean scratch in the skin. The application is a bit more tedious--you have to spray the screen of the nexus with an included solution of water and detergent before laying the skin on; however, I think this reduced the amount of bubbles underneath it that a lot of other skins can have. Also, it's a bit floppy so you might have to slide it around a bit after laying it on the screen to get it aligned properly.Notes: the instructions say that any micro bubbles (tiny bubbles that don't go away no matter how much you try to rub them out) left underneath the skin after application go away after a few days and they did, which was a relief. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of using one of my own screen cleaning clothes instead of the on included in the package, which let to a few tiny pieces of lint/fibers getting caught under the skin. Also, be careful of your fingernails when using it! Mine were a little long and I ended up with a little scratch/permanent ripple in the skin when handling it. After taking it out of my SUPCASE New Google Nexus 7 FHD 2nd Generation Tablet Slim Fit Folio Leather Case - Black (Free Stylus, Elastic Hand Strap, Support Auto Wake/Sleep) , I noticed that the skin had dimples/ripples along the edge where the case had pressed against it--should I take it out of the case, it'll be a bit unsightly. All in all, it does its job and protects my Nexus from scratches; however, it's a bit rubbery and warps if scratched. I personally prefer something more like plastic in texture that does not warp so easily, since an accidental scratch across the screen will be a huge annoyance and warrant a replacement.

Great customer service-poor screen protector
UPDATE: December 16, 2013Again, I applaud their customer service in attempting to assist me in rectifying this situation. However, after about a week of use, it had marks and "wrinkles" once again. The protector seems too pliable and deforms too easily. After just 3 weeks, I removed the protector and threw it away. I will leave the screen naked for now as I can't put another of these on and witness the many blemished that drove me crazy. My final recommendation is to leave this one off of your Nexus and just enjoy it's natural beauty. Otherwise, get the Zagg screen protector for a few dollars more.UPDATE: November 20, 2013I received my new Skinomi and the application went flawlessly. I left it alone for about 14 hours and it looked great. No issues. The protector is solid with no bubbles, artifacts, or other blemishes. It does feel slightly "rubbery", however, this does not impede use or response. Just something I will need to get used to. I have increased the rating to 4 stars overall due to the outstanding customer service and quality of the second screen protector. Any company can have 1 product slip through QA. How they respond to the issue is what can allow a company to stand apart. This is what happened with Skinomi. I highly recommend their products and customer service.UPDATE: November 14, 2013I contacted Skinomi and received a response within one day. They were very cordial and apologetic, promising to ship a new one immediately. I changed my review to 2 stars due to the very god customer service. I will apply the new one and update.I ordered this for my new Nexus 7-2 tablet and it promptly arrived from Amazon 2 days later. The package included the screen protector, a micro fiber cloth, installation and cleaning solution and a squeege. After reading the directions, I applied the screen protector to my Nexus with ease and no difficulty. I was able to get all of the bubbles and excess water out with the provided tool. So far so good.I allowed the screen protector to dry thoroughly (48 hours, although that was difficult with a brand new tablet) and all looked good. Then began my disappointment. As I began to use the device with only my fingers, I noticed a few small blemishes. I was unable to remove them. Then, as I used the device, other small marks began to show up. I have tried washing the front with a damp (with water) lint-free rag and then drying it with a different rag, to no avail.Overall, I was very satisfied with the installation of the product, however, not with the appearance after being installed. Unfortunately, I am out $10.

Skinomi is a quality screen cover
I've tried others with mixed results. Always come back to Skinomi for my phones and now Nexus 7 screen protection.Upside: They are crystal clear, self healing, have a great tactile feel and with minimal care will keep your screen pristine. Sure, Gorilla glass is tough. But everyday use can still mar it and I want my screens to be blemish free for the duration.Downside: They must be applied wet. Read the instructions carefully. I found that using a good set of tweezers to grip the edge of the film helps me hold onto it during the application without putting finger prints on it. Wet the skin, get it in position, and remember to work from the center out with the squeegee to remove the wetting solution from under the film. I work from the center to the edge for an entire half of the screen then repeat for the other side. That method allows the screen to be firmly attached by half of the surface while removing any air bubbles on the "loose" half with the squeegee as I work from the center out and hold the edge up slightly with the tweezers. Skinomi skins may have small hazy areas but they disappear as it dries. I give it four stars instead of five because the larger Nexus 7 Skinomi is a little harder to apply than a phone screen protector. However, the care that must be taken to apply this product is its only drawback.

It's cheaper than a Zagg for a reason
I've bought a couple Zaggs for my past two phones and fitted several for friends, would say am adept at getting a perfect bubble and lint free fit. This Skinomi is similar to the HD version of a Zagg in that the orange peel effect is lessened, but also that it's very easy to mark and that the marks don't seem to come out, just like the Zagg HD version. That heavy orange peel effect of the original Zagg is great for removing unwanted reflections yet still giving a crystal clear screen when being viewed.Upon fitting what I at first thought was a perfect application discovered the protector was less than adequate in size, width is good, length is about a quarter of an inch too short to fully protect, quite honestly it's a s*** fit but does the job with some fiddling. After several hours bubbles appeared over 3 quarters of the thing with one quarter remaining perfect, after several more hours I noticed they weren't going away, so I hastened a removal of the offending 3 quarters and used some spare Zagg liquid to re-apply it resulting in a perfect bubble free finish, apart from a faint line from where the non offending quarter remained, bummer. This protector is not as good as an original Zagg but then it's a damn sight less expensive too! You definitely get what you pay for with this protector, protection but at a price.
