Great rackmountable NAS, qnap make it easy to upgrade to newer larger models.

So, I've been using this NAS for a year or so now. Initially, the array would drop every month or so. I worked with the QNAP customer support and they eventually replaced it. Problem is, the same thing happened. After further support, they sent me new drive trays and the NAS has been rock solid since. I would caution anyone prospective buyers to keep QNAP products behind a firewall though. There are a lot of ransomware variants that target QNAP so if you make your NAS accessible from the internet you'll likely get hit.

We use this unit as a data and multimedia server and it works great. Never had any hiccups with it, and so glad that I bought the 2G version - since I just installed am $11 8GB stick and saved the $90 for the 8GB version. Running 4x 24TB WD drives in Raid 5 - actually had a drive fail - it was replaced on warranty - dropped it in and it was like it never missed a beat. Great unit and I picked this one out after hours and hours of research. Other things of note - my unit is pretty quiet. It sits in a louvered door closet right next to the big TV and you can barely hear it in there. I love that I can watch my movies and upload/save to this from anywhere I have a data connection in the world. I don't see us outgrowing this unit for many years to come.
