Print too small
I saw the documentary and absolutely loved it so I bought the book. I looked forward to reading it as well as buying it for local nursing home library but the print is much too small even for my perfect eyesight not to mention elderly. There was nothing to do but return it. If it is in a larger print I would certainly re-purchase it. Vivian was an exceptional woman and this book other wise is a great addition to home library’s. Even if the print was bold it would help but small, light print is impossible to read. It’s a shame because finally this great lady’s voice needs to be heard. It’s a beautiful book but I don’t believe it’s even a 10pt font.

Wow...love letters GALORE!
OK, seriously...how can a guy write THAT MANY passion-filled love letters to his fiance', then wife, and then go on to have an affair and divorce? Who IS he? Can drugs really change someone that much? After reading this book, I feel really badly that I liked the movie "Walk The Line", because the movie portrayed Vivian as a real shrew...and she WASN'T. I can't imagine what she went through having this all unfold. I guess my question to anyone would be, if it were any other guy (not a celebrity song writer like Johnny Cash) how would you react to him treating his wife the way he did, after that mountain of professions of his love and devotion? Yea...bigtime schmuck! I'm glad I read this and know the truth of it. Read it if you want to know, too.

It's ok
I wish this book would have contained both letters from Johnny and Vivian. So to me it was a little on the boring side. Rather than buy the book, I wish i would have watched the documentary with all the daughters speaking about their parents. That was much better than this book.

Vivian and Johnny Cash Love Story
Never before seen look into Johnny Cash and Vivian, and it's about damn time. I only wish she'd lived a little longer and been able to write a little bit more. She was such a private person, though, it's been a rare glimpse into what really happened, and your heart breaks for her.

I am now a fan ov Vivian's!
I was not a fan of the book being about 90% Johnny's letters to Vivian at first but you do get to know the man she was falling in love with by reading the letters. I would rather of heard the story in the beginning in Vivian's own voice because in the later part of the book she does speak and she was a wonderful story teller. After reading this book, I wish I had known of Vivian before we all lost her. Vivian comes across as a wonderful wife and mother and it saddens me it was not enough for Johnny. I think Johnny had the "real" thing with Vivian but he lost his way with his demons and drugs and fell into June's web. I do have some anger for John and the way he just walked away from his family without a look back and never gave Vivian and their children an apology. He owes them one!I also learned that June C. Cash was not the woman she protrayed thru-out life and I for one... always had doubts about her life story and this book answered that...I was right. June was the biggest disappointment of all. I do not understand why Johnny let June's story telling stand...hurting his first family in the process but maybe it was the drugs? To hear June tell it you would have throught she was his only wife and true love...I do not think so.I wish Vivian had spoken up sooner, but she had so much compassion for her children and Johnny she took a step back and gave ground to June...sadly. Vivian felt hurt for herself and her children but her love for John never died and she didn't wish to make matters worse. I am not sure she made the right decision but who am I to question how she handled the loss of John. Maybe she should have fought harder to save the marriage but John made it tough and June was so conniving... Vivian backed away.I would have loved to have seen John and Vivian have the time to reconnect and have the time to work thru their feelings before both passed after June's death. There may be some life's lesson's in this book for us all. You will come away knowing the real John and learn to love the woman Vivian was.Rest in peace Vivian...hope on the other side you and Johnny had the chance you didn't have here on this side.

Great getting to know a class act🌸
I Wanted!!? To Love this book so here goes;Wayyyyyyy too many letters. Exhaustive to wade thru. But I made it. Do, the only times you’d get an actual point of reference , dialogues, kids born, career that soared, addictions, etc. snd not enough pages, to do this last part justice. Good pictures, though.Vivian? Was prettier than any actresses of her day. People have talked about her race, since she was 16. If u look at her white dad n his wife? Her mother had no doubt, spent a lifetime, “ passing””. So I I think? Vivian did, too. Which breaks my heart. And I learned that Walk The Line? Was a farce. It was June!!, that told , I’m gonna takeYour man n there's nothing u can DO.? He’d sobered up but June, allegedly, kept his habit come back, so she could mold him/for herself. Tha movie painted Vivian, as a mean shrew. Not true!!! She raised all thirds n home n his schedule, etc. all alone. I’m glad she found someone else, to love💋A cop, no less. I got the feeling, that Vivian raised herself UP n soared with her new freedom. Seems she was much loved.Good book, but too many back n forth letters. Years):

And amazing love story gone so wrong .
I just finished the book . I believe Vivians side of their story is the truthful one . it just a shame tho that she had to wait until after june died to publish her story . but she was a saint . I wouldn't have waited that long . I noticed a negative comment on here about her being black, but what did that matter? Johnny fell in love with her when they were very young and had a good marriage until he fell into drugs , alcohol and cheating. He and vivians love was born of a pure love, his attraction to june was born under the influence of alcohol, drugs and her evil influence.I do not feel the same now about johnny and June's relationship. I still like their music but I dont think so highly of them now. Vivian get the short end of the stick, but she remained quiet thru most of it . im sure she didn't want to hurt Johnny's career in music . such a sad sad story.

Good to know Vivian Liberto's side of the story.
As a long time fan of Johnny Cash I wanted to read his first wif'e side of the story.I found this book a very interesting read, quite heavy on his letters to her while he was in the airforce in Germany but a good read nonetheless. I would recommend this book to others.

Mixed feelings
Having read much from Johnny cash perspective it was refreshing to read his wife's account. I enjoyed the prose but felt rather overwhelmed by the letters from Johnny. Very romantic as a background but rather too many included which made me skip through to progress.

Dull
Not what I expected in a book about Johnny Cash.

So sad
So sad, they really were on a wonderful journey together until fame changed their course. It truly takes a very self controlled person to go unscathed. I do hope they were reunited in heaven.
