Truck Bed Coating Brush On

Product arrived quickly as per usual Amazon shipping. My plan was to use this to fix some rust on the inside of my trucks tailgate. Stripped the rust down to bare metal, primed and used a paint brush to apply product. It has some texture, and since the bottom outside of my tailgate also had some rust showing, i sanded down the bottom quarter, that matches the black trim on my FX4. For the flat part, I tried a small roller, but that really brought up the texture, so smoothed out as best as possible with the brush. After 3-4 days of drying, the product looks great, and looks like it seals up tight. I also had some smaller paint chips coming off the outside of the doors, so I masked a straight line and prepped both doors and jams and applied the coating to those. Looks great & adds some stone chip protection too. Since my truck is a two tone with a dark grey bottom, it is not as noticeable if I tried to use in on a lighter color. I'm planning on purchasing the gallon size next, and finish my truck bed, but will probably use a roller, and a spray can to finish off the tough to reach areas. It seems to be thinner than expected when first applied, but using a second coat really builds up the thickness. I also cleaned up my trailer hitch with a light sanding, and applied to that. It makes it look brand new! Prep the surface per instructions,and use a paint brush for smaller areas. Very happy with this product

I used this to waterproof a tow behind trailer's domed cover instead of the problems associated with fiber glassing. It seems to have worked out VERY well after 4 weeks of towing at speed (45 to 70 mph ). No erosion noted, and we have had a lot of weather (rain ), used three coats after a period of cure ( 2 to 3 hours ) between each. I should add that the mileage is probably a little more than most people would put on. ( approx. 200 miles per week )

I used this on an 8 ft truck bed that sees light-moderate use: moving boxes, loads of recycling, bags of dirt, and the occasional trip to the lumberyard. This was my first time rolling a bed liner. I was very pleased with the results. A few notes: The devil is in the details on the prep work. This WILL NOT BOND to a glossy surface. Yes it is a painful process to destroy the factory finish on your truck. Do it anyway. Rolling is a misnomer, as the synthetic roller I grabbed quickly fell apart. This product has a very high solvent content, so use a brush or natural-fiber roller. Work outside or wear a respirator, ideally both (remember that solvent content...). The product is thin enough to level out most brush marks. The can claims to cover 30-40 sq ft. That proved to be optimistic. Get three cans for an 8 ft bed, two should do a 6 footer. Work Flow: 1.) Wash out bed with a degreaser or detergent. 2.) Scuff sand the entire surface to be painted. You want to abraid the clear coat, but not remove the paint beneath. 3.) Sand any rust spots down to bare metal, and feather around the resulting hole. 4.) Wash again with water and light detergent. Rinse thoroughly, and allow to dry. 5.) Glove up. Any skin oil on the surface at this point will mess with the finish. 6.) Mask off any adjacent areas. 7.) Prime bare spots with Rust-Oleum automotive primer. 8.) Paint as per label instructions. Do the sidewalls first. Wait two hours. Apply a second coat to the sidewalls and the first coat to the floor. Wait overnight to do the last coat on the floor, so you can walk over the first coat.

For those of you looking for a strong plastic like Bedliner paint that won’t scratch off easy, this is it. Not a rubber type with rubber chunks. I use this for coating gas tanks, frames or even body panels. Warning there is multiple versions of this. The grayish label or black are junk. I recently tried coating Jeep frame and it very easily scratches off. This red label version is the best but expensive only finding in a quart for $36!!! Relatively smooth finish with some texture. Not a fan of bedliner finish on body panels. Great product though. Have been using this stuff for more then 10 years now. Only thing I can find that’s actually durable.

The product was ok and worked well enough for my application. I used this to "rehab" a previously pro painted truck bed. It had worn away in some spots and faded over the years. If this was on a bare metal bed I would NOT have liked this product. It's very thin, little traction, and doesn't seem durable. But if you want to bring back an old worn out painted liner it's great (and cheap) for that. 1/5 stars for amazon who can't pack a box - can arrived dented and leaking.

I am using this awesome bed liner by Rust-Oleum for my 1990 Honda CRX Si re-build & put a couple coats on the bottom of my new tank. I also will update the coating that’s on the bottom of my car to continue the fight against rust. Great stuff, works well with just a simple paint brush & gives it the bumpy look.

Man I love this stuff. I wish I had discovered it sooner. What can't it be used for? Anything black that needs painting now gets covered in Bed liner. We have so much humidity in South Florida, any bare metal rusts instantly. My 1994 Jeep Wrangler is slowly being transformed into a Bedliner beast.
