New Star 35445 Commercial Grade Self Defrost Ice Cream Dipper Scoop, 2-Ounce, Size 20, Brown

It is easy to use this to scoop up hard ice cream. Just need to remember never put it in dishwasher.

I have no idea how this works as I washed it before I had the oppertunity to use it. My huge mistake!! Wash by hand!! I wasn't smart enough to read the handle and it clearly states, "Do not wash in hot water" and I did, so I ruined it. I'm going to reorder it and this time I'm ordering the larger size as this size was not very big. I ordered a 20, and it's not very big.

To be honest, I had my doubts about this little scoop. It is filled with anti-freeze, and so requires special handling, can not be put through the dishwasher. I bought it after reading a review of a similar model which indicated this it is what is used in in ice cream parlors. It was inexpensive enough that I thought worth taking a chance on. I have nicely designed scoop from Zyliss Zyliss Right Scoop Assorted Colors which I love, however... I made some ice cream for my son's birthday with a fabulous recipe from the New York Times. It tastes great, if you can get it out of the container. It is a very dense, rich ice cream which froze very solid. It has taken quite a bit of work to get any out with my regular scoop, but this has worked like magic. I never would have considered purchasing a scoop filled with anti-freeze until I saw that review, so Thank you to whoever recommended it, and I am passing that recommendation on, as I a finding that this works quite well, well enough that I intend to buy another in a different size (because I like that recipe too).

Looked like it was minted in the 1930’s metal, accidentally washed in dishwasher (not dishwasher safe) and let’s just say the metal turned a really dark color not suitable for using / scooping food that’s consumed - threw it out

The scoop is just the right shape. When scooping ice cream, it will curl over, just as it does in the ice cream shops. The scoop will readily release it's contents, as it should. So easy to use and clean-up is a breeze.
