what wavelength is the light? is an 850 or 940nm IR torch best for extra illumination? thanks

The Nightfox Corsac has inbuilt 850nm IR wavelength, which is best for long range viewing, it has a maximum range of 180m, without the additional IR illumination. If you wanted to boost the range further, you would want to use an additional 850nm IR illuminator, such as our XB5 850nm IR torch. I hope this helps.

Can I look at the stars with it as well as other things and how good is it?

Great question. The Corsac is great for nature watching at night up to a maximum distance of 180 meters, and can be used in the day as well, but I'd invest in a good telescope instead for stargazing. As it's beyond the Corsac's max range and will lack detail. I hope this helps!

Does it take re-chargeable batteries?

Thank you for your question. Yes, it does! Regarding which batteries we recommend for use in your Nightfox. The type of AA batteries you use will not affect performance, but will affect run time. The three types you can consider are below:

- Disposable lithium batteries: These offer the best run time, but are the most expensive option. We would only recommend if maximum run time is of paramount importance.

- Disposable alkaline batteries: The majority of good alkaline brands will give you about six hours of run time on mixed use (we recommend sticking to known brands like Energizer, Duracell, AmazonBasics).

- Rechargeable NI-MH batteries: These have a lower voltage than disposable batteries, and will therefore cut out sooner (even if there's still a bit of juice left in the battery). Generally speaking, you can expect three hours or so with rechargeable batteries before you'll have to switch over. We recommend making sure your chosen battery has a capacity of at least 2000mAh or more. If you're going to be a heavy user of your Nightfox, you may wish to buy two sets of rechargeable batteries, so some can be on charge while some are being used. I hope this helps!
