When I worked in the hospital this was called a "fracture pan." It is not a full sized pan so it does not hold the volume that a full-sized pan would. The purpose of this type of pan is for comfort, hence that is why it is thinner. Perfect in some cases, not big enough in others. Caregivers have to chose based on the clients' needs. This pan is perfect for our needs, it is large and sturdy enough to use on an average sized person.

This item is best for elderly people who find it difficult to sit or lift their back. A bit smoother on edges, has good slope and quite cute in size.

This is pretty much exactly as advertised. I am very small and thin, so it's important for me to avoid sharp or hard edges. This model would be perfect if it was made more comfortable with slightly thicker plastic.
