Powerful motor, but wiring is undersized
I ordered this kit for a heavy-duty application that involves a heavy load on steep hills. I uses a 30-amp battery so I could use the full current capability of the controller. It worked great for shallower hills, or short/steep hills, but on a very long, steep hill on a gravel road, the motor connector closest to the controller melted (plastic was oozing out of the connector!), and the motor quit. After I examined the wiring, I found that the motor cable had melted the outside insulation where the cable was folded over on itself, and where it comes out of the controller - anywhere the heat couldn't dissipate. The surviving connector is discolored around the three power pins. So I don't feel the wire size and connectors are appropriate for a motor with this torque capability. The cable is extra long so I was able to splice out the melted regions and keep riding. The kit seems like a good value, but if you are planning on using this kit for heavy-duty application - cargo or heavy riders, on steep hills - then you might want to upgrade the cabling with larger-diameter power wires with better connectors.

Quality and Ease-of-Installation
Awesome kit! My wife and I have done several ebike conversions now and the EBIKELING kits are by far our favorite and most trust-worthy venue! The quality and materials are very very good - great value for the dollar. The motors are whisper quiet and have a ton of torque! Our recent frames went from 750W scenarios to 48V 1500W rear-hub motors with 52V 1500W 20Ah batteries and boy, these bikes go like a bat out of hell...wicked fast!!! Plus, the bikes now have so much torque it easily hauls my chubby ass up our steep hill without a problem :) We spent a little extra money on the higher-end range of Tektro brake kits and levers and Shimano shifters and cables. Another favorite aspect of the EBIKELING kit is that the controller has an extra 2-pin red barrel connector in case you want to hard-wire a headlight or tail light. Plus the LCD G-51 display is a good unit and very easy to program. All-in-all, you really can't do better, especially with the value-to-dollar aspect. And finally, their customer service is excellent...we had several questions via both email and their US-based tech support line and they responded quickly and were super helpful (and nice). Happy Trails everyone!!! --Pleased in San Diego, CA :)

My favorite aordable rear hub kit so far.
I like the easy install plug-and-play wiring system. 2 hours conversion for a Giant Warp DS2 mountain bike. LCD controller display is worth the extra money over the base LED. I do not like the half grip twist throttle. Would have preferred a full grip twist, as on a motorcycle. Would suggest manufacturer use an XT90 battery connector not the XT60 on the 48volt kit. 37MPH on the level ground with a half charged 52volt battery. I've installed other 1500W rear hub kits. This is the one I like most.

Five stars!
Amazing kit, powered by more than 2 hp. Great quality, easy to install electric connector isolate. Silent, powerful. I install the kit 48 vol 1500 watts. on my Giant 26'' bicycle (few years old bicycle). Very easy install with a 52 vol. 21 amp battery, getting a max speed of 58kph on flat surfaces (It is possible to reach more but it's dangerous because of the lightweight) and climb on hills of 35 degrees angle with power authority, useful specially were I live. An amazing motion machine, great waterproof connectors allowed me to go on during a light rain but of course not in storm, just be cautious with the wet floor. In general it's the best E-bike kit on the market actually. highly recommend, love it, I will buy it again for sure.

Great kit. Even better customer service! Thanks guys
Rim came damaged. They quickly got me a new wheel in 2 days. Very polite on the phone and a wonderful kit with waterproof connectors. I build ebikes and lithium batteries for a living and this was the easiest kit to install. Viciouscyclebattery.net

By Far the Best out there!!
I was hesitant on building an Ebike, but I am so glad I did and that I used this company EBikeling! Their customer service is excellent and they respond to emails very quickly. Recently I had my twist throttle go out. Took it apart and found a faulty wire. Soldered it back and its working but I sent an email to the company and the next morning I received an email with shipping information for a replacement product! This unit is powerful and fast. My wife bought a Nakto Ranger and while its a good bike the 350w motor cannot compare to this one. Found a great battery on Ebay for a good price. Been taking it for long rides with no issues. There was some mild tweaking to my frame during the install but my bike was over 20 years old. Installed it on a Mongoose amplifier with full suspension. Yes its heavy but it rocks! And the companys customer service is great! But it just for that.

Tandem Bike Conversion works well so far.
Because it has been a little cold, we have only taken it out for one short 3 mile ride. I weigh close to 220 lbs, and my wife is 130. With both of us on the bike, we could motor around with no pedaling at all. We only rode on flat surfaces, so I can't report on how it does on hills, or how much distance I get out of the 48V battery yet. The EBIKELING kit got us up to around 28mph, so that was impressive.Things to note:1.) I had to manufacture my own power cord from the controller to the battery. Unless you can put those 2 things close together, you will need to do the same. Even if you do get them close together, you will need to solder the power line from the controller to the power lines of the battery unit. Not a big deal, but something to note.2.) If you have V-Brakes, you will need to do some adjusting (you need to anyway if you install the provided motor cut off brake levers provided). The rim seems to be a little wider at the brake pads than my old rim...kind of tricky to get it all dialed in.3.)The speed readout is in Kilometers/hour. So unless you are Canadian and are comfortable with that, you have to do some quick estimations on how fast you are going. Wasn't a big issue for me, because I have a warning system sitting on the back seat (my wife) telling me "SLOW DOWN".So as of today I rate it 4 Stars, and will upgrade it to 5 Stars if it continues to perform like this (especially on hills).
