Can you lay the bottle on it's side, does it leak?

You can absolutely lay the bottle on its side without leakage. These are my favorites for keeping bubbly fresh! Enjoy!

What is it made of(I'm looking for plastic free)

Mostly metal...but inside the black cap, there's the actual stopper, which of course is plastic..so it can squeeze into the champagne bottle.

Does this work on a 1.5 liter bottle of champagne? How long will it keep the bubbles fizzy?

Is this Dishwasher safe?

It most likely is but I have always just rinsed it off with water. It really does not get dirty enough to require cleaning in a dishwasher.
