All I did was wash it with warm soapy water, dry it off with a paper towels, and then I seasoned it lightly with oil. Then I placed it on my baking sheet, mixed up the ingredients, pour them into the muffin pan and popped it into the oven. It did take slightly longer than the recommended cooking time, but I suspect that's because it was on top of a baking sheet. However you never want to put this into your oven without it being on a baking sheet. The muffins were super easy to get out and none of them stuck to the silicone. This thing passes the pinch test, by the way. I would have returned it first thing if it hadn't.
