The Spiritual Path

I came across Shantaram early November 2022. Someone mentioned about the book. Although, I saw this book everywhere years back, even in India, knowing that was a novel I did not buy it. I am an avid reader, I must have read about a thousand books but I do not read novels. As I started Shantaram, I could not put it down. I finished the book in 8 days. I have many books that changed my life but definitely Shantaram is one of the best books I have read. I resonated so much with GDR and his writing. Through his writing, I felt GDR is a sensitive, kind, beautiful Soul. I felt sincerity in his story and I knew nothing about the author. After reading Shantaram, I became curios who the author is and how much of Shantaram is fiction vs. real story. I watched every video on YouTube and read every article I came across about GDR. I knew Linbaba's story was real, I felt it as I was reading it. When I learned more about the author, I was beyond trilled to see such an amazing, beautiful, sensitive Soul. A true gentleman. GDR is such a beautiful human being.One thing I want to point out, the introduction to GDR starts: a heroin addict, convicted bank rubber, etc. I would reframe his introduction: a writer, a philosopher, a sensitive soul, lost his way into heroin...and then found his way back to light and love...People forget to mention why he strayed from his path as a writer for a while. I love, love GDR! I read GDR's Spiritual Path while on a plane from NYC to MEX. I did not want to finish it. I read it without any expectations. I knew is not Shantaram. I loved how he shared his spiritual path in such a candid, sincere way. I resonated so much with GDR's book: sincerity, humbleness, simplicity, purity of mind and heart.

If you have already started your spiritual journey or about to embark on one, read this book for inspiration. A lot of synchronicities happened while I was reading this book. I would read it again.

I can't praise this book enough. As the name would imply, a spiritual path is a route to finding the means by which one might discover one's self (or, as GDR prefers, Self). We are, all of us, on a Spiritual Path whether we realise it or not - Gregory David Roberts book reveals this to the reader in an ingenious way by systematically exploring the psychological layers which make up the human personality. To make the most of this book the reader is required to scrutinise each of these layers that they may reveal to the self the essential Self at the core of each and every one of us.

Sincere quest through novel spiritual pathway.Not my cup of tea.

Shantaram was such an exquisite spiritual experience I was hoping to be bathed in the glory of God as Greg did in his superb novels. I'm thirsty for more of that. This book by another author may have been somewhat enlightening. But, I was hoping for the Grace of God I experienced reading his novels.Please TRY AGAIN! Create More! Go deeper! I'm still thirsty for the sublime writing I know still wants to come forth from you.
