THE JATAKAS: Birth Stories of Bodhisatta (Penguin Classics)

This is my special interest so I was bound to like it. I thought it was very informative, thank you Sarah for writing this. I am sure it was a labour of love.

I ordered this book in a bookstore and paid 15.99 euro. The book was wrapped so I could not check the quality of the printing but I was confident seeing the raving reviews about the book (obviously these reviews were about the translation not the publication..) The book is badly printed, the pages are so transparent that you can see the printing on the other side of the page. The paper is brownish in colour and rough and I think is one of the most cheap and ugly papers that one can find on the market. I love the Jatakas stories and I wanted a good quality book. I feel that the way it is printed (to make money and get as much profit as one can) it is a total lack of respect to the content of these stories and their meaning. I will look now for another publication. The question is why do we not care anymore to make something beautiful? Would I have bought the book if saw it first? No, thank you!
