Bloody brilliant action and story telling
A fantastic follow up to Wrath of Iron that builds and delves into its characters with great aplomb, from turning a character who i did not like into a character i kind of respected alot more. Not to mention to meeting some truely evil despicable characters that puts the first villain of the first book to real shame. In fact Angus really is a master craftsman when it comes to villains that I honestly wonder how on earth of our protagonists have any chance at all. Angus crafts a fabulous story that honestly surprised me more often than I'm used to with great comedy and some pretty hard hitting drama to boot. It's also built up some truely epic battles that were a joy to witness.

The second book was as good as the first. I have already purchased the third book in the series. Fantastic!

Highly recommended - writes like Joe Abercrombie
Excellent book and series. I am a big fan of Joe Abercrombie's books and these provide a fix for that style of writing. Very engaging plot and well developed characters. No spoiler but this is the type of writer who isn't afraid to kill of anyone - unlike some books, you know the main character will always survive, always win, always find a way to come out on top in the end. Not so much here. And the story and relationships intertwine over time and little nuances play much larger roles later, when you least expect it.I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys edgy fantasy books based in more primitive times (swords and magic, no guns, no computers)

The bad guys are very
Entertaining take on the period before the first roman invasion. The bad guys are very, very bad, and the heroes suitably humble. I love the humour and there are some great jokes.
