So I have ordered two of these now, and each featured the same problem. Product quality was fantastic, EXCEPT it made the down-button on the d-pad stick. I returned the first one and tried again, but was bummed to find out my second unit also interfered with the d-pad.I decided to try my luck fixing it. I lightly sanded the bottom of the shell where the d-pad slots in. Rubbing the paint off there fixed the problem and now it works flawlessly, and looks great.BE AWARE though that if you are not willing to lightly sand this product, it will interfere with/make the d-pad stick when pressed downwards based on the two units I purchased.

So my review is not going to mention sheerness or thickness, if that’s ok with you all.Pros:1. Aesthetics - cover shell met my expectations. Looks amazing. The colors really pop. Very pleased with the aesthetics2. Build quality - build quality is good, but not what I expect at this price. There are two things Extremerate needs to address with their cover shells, and I’ve noticed this on other shells I’ve purchased. The first has to do with a sort of warp effect to the shell. These cover shells are not manufactured with the precision that you see with Microsoft stock cover shells that are balanced and even. These shells are not as precisely manufactured and you can tell when trying to screw on the cover shell. The second issue came with the button cut outs for some of the ABXY buttons, the menu, sharing, view and guide buttons which were a hair too tight which caused the buttons to stick, leaving them unable to be pressed. Now this would be a deal breaker for some folks but I used a razor blade to carefully shave away some plastic, and all was well. Not a deal breaker for me but I can imagine it would be for some.3. Tactile feel - I lie the soft touch on these shells. They just feel great in hand. The downside is that the plastic film used for the graphic is much more sensitive to scratches than the stock cover shell. I hope they are able to come up with a protectant layer that will be better suited to preserve both the graphic and the feel.Overall, I’m happy with my purchase and would buy a similar product from Extremerate in the future. I just hope they keep working on improving the build quality of their products 🤞🏽

**Consensus: I recommend eXtremeRate as a company but they missed the mark on this one.**TL;DR This will be a moderately complex installation. The quality of the color is usually 10/10 and true to the imaging. It is common to find manufacturing defects in the plastic (pilot holes not threaded; imperfections in the plastic where it seats itself; soft-touch shells experiencing discoloration under normal use, the list goes on. I would still recommend eXtremeRate products despite these things, because they are the best of what is available. Hopefully eXtremeRate works on a better quality product because it won’t be hard to switch companies once a worthy competitor comes along. Spend less money on marketing and more on quality control.**This shell currently has an issue where the pilot hole for the d-pad is not large enough and/or off center. This will require you to file down one side of the pilot hole so that the d-pad will fit. Considering you have to void the warranty on your controller, you may want to hold off on this shell until eXtremeRate confirms this is fixed.**I really wanted to like this product, but sadly eXtremeRate hasn’t proven as good as them seem. These products are made in China with little to no quality control during or after the manufacturing process. I have ordered many eXtremeRate products because they seem to be “the best of the worst” as their competition typically lack flavor in style/color choices. With this product specifically the third party plastic doesn’t seat properly with the oem plastic which creates a “squeak” effect when you grip the controller or move it around in your hands. Essentially transforming your controller into what feels and sounds like a low-quality knock off controller instead of the engineered perfection Microsoft provides.I was not compensated for this review, it is impartial.

I did had alittle issue with this product, so I found one of the solutions to d-pad, theres some part plastic that you could either sand it down or use a knife to cut some pieces to fix that part and my controller d-pad is perfect, I wish I would let extremerate know about that issue personally but I thought I would at least let someone know how to do so, overall I really love my steel grey cover, looks amazing and perfect

I bought a brand new Xbox controller and was really excited to replace the front shell. Had no issue removing the old shell and installing the custom shell but I noticed there was an issue with the D-pad. The D-pad was not clicking in the up and right directions and the right direction sometimes did not register being hit at all. Very annoying! I returned it and got another and it did the same thing. Guess I'll have to keep my controller nice and plain black

NOTE: the lighting is not allowing for an accurate depiction of the Sakura Pink color. The color I received is just like the color in the seller’s pictures.I really need to start reading descriptions or even scrolling through pics because I did NOT expect to have to install this myself. I was EXTREMELY reluctant to do this once I saw the screwdriver and prying device. I watched the YouTube video provided in the description (yes, after I received it I finally looked through the description) and it worked perfectly. I LOVE it. I think it’s better than a skin actually!

Great at first.This is a great shell. Easy to install, feels nice and looks great. However, i feel disappointed that after a very small amount of time spent in my hands. Approximately 10 hoursThe areas around the outside of the faceplate are going brown which is unsightly to say the least. Especially since i was soo happy with it to begin with.It may be that the base coat of paint is showing through the white more and more over time but it is degrading at an alarmingly fast rate.Didn't buy this to replace it in a few months time. Thats why the rating is reduced. Could've been a 5 star otherwise.....

Really happy with this face plate, much cooler than the original white. I love the feel of it too, it’s a soft touch satin matte like texture and I actually prefer it to the original plate texture by far. This particular design also looks really good on the white controller not just the black.In terms of installation, it definitely was a case of the video made it look easier than it was. Then again they’ve probably done it a lot more times and got the technique down. It took me about half an hour to do it in total just because of how much I struggled to get the two back grips off, this took most the time. You have to really put some careful force into it. I recommend wrapping something around the handle of the prying tool provided to not hurt your fingers/hand as well as this made it quite a lot easier.Once they were off it was fairly smooth sailing and super easy, just make sure you tighten the screws back up super tight as tight as they will go (I used a rubber grip cloth to help) otherwise the faceplate will have a little movement.All in all it was a great purchase and a fairly easy way to customise your controller which I appreciate!

I'll start by saying that Xbox series controllers are a pain to dismantle. But once you get the handle parts off it's easy enough to disassemble/assemble it together. The faceplate itself looks really good, matches up well and has a really nice soft texture to it which makes it easy to grip. Not really any negative points as most issues were down to my error, but easily fixed. There are videos you can look at to see how to assemble it and they give you a link in the box, as well as all the tools you need to do it.

The product was very good quality and it came with all the necessary tools , however the product did not come with instructions therefore i had to search for video , also the installation of the cover was not the easiest

feels good but the design isn't centered like the one shown as you can see in pictures the bottom is cut off. I still like it but it is annoying as hell if you look too long at it. Material is great but be aware the design will probably be wonky. id suggest getting a plain one.
