Art Blakey's 1960 hard bop classic, The Big Beat, introduced one of the greatest line-ups of the Jazz Messengers with the legendary drummer joined by Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Timmons, and Jymie Merritt. 3 of the 6 tunes were composed by Shorter, but the album is best-known for an unforgettable version of Timmons' enduring hit "Dat Dere." Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series is all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Optimal.

One of Art's Best
Simply put, this is one of the best recordings by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers EVER... if not the BEST ever. I challenge anybody to listen to Wayne Shorter's and Lee Morgan's solos on "The Chess Players" and not start grinning from ear-to-ear. All instrumental solos on this record are of the same excellent caliber, and Art's drumming is, as usual, relentlessly assertive and thrilling.If you had to buy only one recording by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, this is the one I would recommend. Absolutely fantastic!

Repeat quality issue
I am now waiting on third version of vinyl. First two had same issue with record jumping multiple times on track one at the same location in the track. Hope I get a good copy as the music is excellent.

Disco muito bom. Músicas boas, fabricado na Alemanha, ótima qualidade. Porém, veio um pouco empenado. Acho que a Amazon poderia caprichar mais na proteção. Entretanto o som não foi afetado, pelo menos no meu aparelho.
