NETGEAR FS108PNA 8 Port Fast Ethernet Unmanaged Switch, 4xPoE 56W, ProSAFE Lifetime Protection (FS108P)

This is a well made switch that has four PoE (Power Over Ethernet) ports as well as four regular Ethernet ports. The manual says it has protection against accidentally shorting out the power should you plug in a device that is not PoE compliant which ties the power lines together. It is built with a steel case like most NetGear switches I have owned so it should last a long time. The AC power port is on one side and the other side has the Ethernet ports and indicator LEDs. The Ethernet Activity and Link LEDs are built into each port and there are four PoE LEDs on the left so you know what ports are using power. Overall a really nice switch for the price.

Big Note: this has 4 POE ports, 4 non-powered ports. It's nice to have a separate switch for security devices. This switch is a good fit for a few residential cameras. 10/100 is plenty fast enough for POE cameras. I have it powering 2 Hikvision cameras and providing network to an Amcrest camera. Super dependable. Wall-mount screws work well for the switch, but there's nothing included to wall-mount the large power adapter. I wedged mine between a few screws.

Bought to run with reolink POE 803.2af compliant cameras. The switch failed to detect and power the POE ports. Regular Ethernet works fine. Since I didn't installed right away I can't return to Amazon. First faulty Netgear product of 20+ I had purchased for the office. I had open a ticket with tech support and I would update this review if I can get a replacement. Update: Warranty is not a joke, got a replacement to my door step in less than 24 hours. Service was great.

Bought this to drive some Ubiquiti access points and bridges, but it didn't work. I thought PoE was a universal standard and it would plug and play, but here are at least two standards, PoE and PoE+, and I'm not sure they are well implemented universally. PoE+ is for devices that draw more power like access points and fancy cameras. Seems like you need some research to figure out what works with what before you buy. Maybe even have to do some testing to know for sure. My ding on NetGear is for not being more clear in the documentation about what is what here. Ideally this would work something like this: - Device makers (cameras, APs) would say very clearly if they are PoE or PoE+ - Switch/hub makers say clearly how many PoE and/or PoE+ devices they can drive - Device and hub vendors would not fudge their numbers, spin, twist and otherwise misinform - There would be clear qualification for cable length and quality. The hub part of it is working fine, but I can't really tell you about the PoE since I have no PoE devices that are low enough power for this one.

This product is as advertised and works great. It is not an 'intelligent' switch so configuration is not involved -- essentially it is 'plug and play'. Supplies 32 watts of power overall. My cameras take about 8 watts each if audio is used. Currently supplying power to three cameras with no problem. As a bonus you get an additional three useable non-PoE ports for other connectivity if you need the. Generally I am a Netgear centric buyer and this product did not disappoint with its capability.

Well.. I initially purchased this switch so that I could power 3 different cisco IP phones (POE) from one Ethernet jack in the wall. After some troubleshooting I found out that this POE switch does not support the old standard POE. So I was not able to power up any POE Cisco IP Phones. Well since it was reasonably priced, i thought I would just use this switch elsewhere for normal switch use. Unfortunately, internet connection kept dropping on both of the PC's and would reconnect. I had a powered up phone that kept losing the LAN connection as well, I spent a hour or so of troubleshooting before calling it quits. This wouldn't even work as a standard switch, so I returned the item. I ended up running over to wal-mart to pick up a little white 5-port netgear 100/1000 switch. Wal-mart netgear switch was Flawless. Not sure what the deal is with this guy though. Switch is a switch, it should just work.

After over a month port 8 became defective. I tried to return it, but the return period had expired. I'm stuck with a partially-defective sw.

Excellent switch. 100% plug and play. No fan makes it a zero noise switch and the metal housing seems to dissipate the heat appropriately. I keep it in a small, poorly vented closet and the device only gets warm, well within the range stated in the manual. I use only the 4 POE connections for a camera system. I have 2 stacked directly on top of one another with no issues. ( Why you ask...2 of these units provides a true 8 POE switch and this unit actually has a higher power output per POE connection than most single units with 8 POE ports) The cameras are on 24/7 so the POE side is running 24/7. The watt draw of each camera is near the max per POE as well. So in short, my two switches are stacked (added heat), they’re in a poorly ventilated closet (added heat), they’re running near the max wattage output per POE port (added heat), and all POE ports are being used (added heat). All of this with no issues.

Very good switch, stay cool under PoE load. 100mbits only, but enough for my application.
