The Guardian is the Safer, More Affordable Alternative to Heavy Steel AnchorsBoat Length: 28-33' / 8-10MWeight: 7lbs / 3 kgHOLDING POWER32° (Hard Sand): 3,225lbs / 1,463kg32° (Soft Mud): 645lbs / 293kgBenefiting from years of Fortress Anchor Research and Development, Guardian offers excellent quality, performance and economy. Guardian is made from the same high tensile, corrosion resistant aluminum magnesium alloy and manufacturing precision as Fortress. The use of slightly smaller extrusion profiles and the elimination of some of Fortress' extra features, such as anodizing, adjustable fluke angles, and several machining steps has resulted in a very affordable alternative to those heavy, rust-prone steel anchors. All Guardian Anchors feature Mud Palms designed to help the anchor set faster in any type of sea bottom. Mud Palms create a "lift" to the crown of the anchor, causing the flukes to point more directly to the seabed. This helps the anchor set faster ... in any bottom.Feature:Precision-machined from an aluminum alloy that is as strong as steel, but only half the weightResultsEasy to manage weightRustproofSecond only to Fortress in holding power testsAn affordable alternative to heavy steel anchorsFeature:Can be disassembledResultsExcellent as a spare or storm anchorEasy to store

Holds *GREAT* in sand/mud, 8000lb boat.
Using this on a Sea Ray Sundancer 260 (2005), which is about an 8000lb boat with fuel, water, people, and gear. This anchor is nice and light once free, and sets/holds quite well in the sandy bottom on the Potomac River where we usually anchor. I have 25 feet of chain, plus my line, and I am my own windlass, so being able to get it to release by hand was important to me, but still hold in a stiff wind. We've been anchored in 2 foot waves, 15kt wind when a storm blew in, and it held us perfectly. Came from a plow-type anchor, which looks great and fits the rollers on my bow, but does not hold well in sand unless I let out a *ton* of line along with it.
