I've been searching for this grade of French wire for ages, and took the chance on this purchase with PandaHall. I'm so pleasantly surprised to find out it was the exact thing I had been searching for since I began my journey into goldwork and embroidery. I just wish I could get my hands on more quantity per package of it (Update: You can, through their website directly!!) - but it's amazing to work with, smooth and turns corners in my projects beautifully.So, so pleased. This type of French wire is new to me and I'm just learning how to use it.

'The gimp is stiff, but bends and holds it's shape well. Works nicely for making beaded brooches. It arrives in straight pieces instead of in a coil, which is how gimp is typically packed. The downsides - there just is not that much gimp for the price, but this is a case of buyer beware since the description is accurate.

This is quite a bit denser than any pearl purl I've bought from goldwork suppliers. It's also quite a bit more expensive as you don't get much, but for a small project like a badge, you'd have enough for internal and external outlines.

While I know color photos can be difficult these were way off the mark. Instead of resembling gold and rose gold, this wire was bright orange and bright pink and unsuitable for my use.

I don’t do embroidery or sew anymore so I can’t say how easy these coils are to stitch onto material. I am using these on a wooden sign for my friend’s cabin. I accidentally stretched out the coil I was testing. It expanded evenly and I was able to shape it into a nice curl that held its shape. The product is forgiving and doesn’t show signs of crimping or other irregularities as you shape and reshape it. The colors are distinct. You can cut it with regular scissors. Also, if you need extra strength and stability, a fine gauge wire can be threaded through the coils.Just one caution. My cat ran across the house to watch me play with the coil. If you have pets, be careful to keep it out of their reach and check for any scraps that might be laying around. That’s not a mark against this product, just a reminder that pets aren’t selective about things they swallow.
