Comfort Upgrade for Long Desk Hours
Comfort Upgrade for Long Desk Hours Iโve tried a handful of footrests over the years, but the Kensington SmartFit with memory foam has been one of the most comfortable and useful additions to my home office. The memory foam top makes a huge differenceโwhen Iโm working without shoes, it feels soft and supportive without being too squishy. After a few hours at my desk, my legs and back definitely feel less strained. The adjustability is another highlight. You can tweak both the height and angle, and I appreciate the foot pedal design that lets you adjust it without reaching down under the desk. It takes a little practice to find the sweet spot, but once you do, it really does improve posture and circulation. Itโs solidly built and heavier than it looks, which keeps it from sliding around on hardwood or low-pile carpet. That said, the base is plastic, and I wouldnโt treat it roughlyโleaning on it too hard or using it as a stool could crack it. The adjustment knobs could also be more intuitive, but they hold steady once set. At around $50, itโs pricier than some basic foam footrests, but for me the memory foam comfort and angle adjustment make it worth it. If you sit for long stretches, the relief it gives your feet, legs, and back easily justifies the cost. Bottom line: A well-designed, cushioned footrest thatโs a noticeable upgrade over basic modelsโideal if you want both comfort and adjustability in your workspace.

Best for the price
This adjustable footrest is surprisingly comfortable and makes a big difference during long work sessions. The height settings are easy to change, and the cushion is firm but supportive. It helps reduce leg fatigue and keeps my posture way more relaxed. Simple, sturdy, and totally worth it for anyone working at a desk all day.

Bought another one for home office
This was the first footrest I've used, bought after some research on Amazon. I liked it enough after using it at work the first day that I bought another for home. As is standard practice now, there were no written instructions in the box, in English or any other written language. Instead we get four glossy pages of color pictographs. There was no actual assembly, just adjusting the footrest's height and pitch. A few people commented on trouble with the height adjustment, which uses a bolt with a plastic knob. I attached some pictures to show where the square nut is hidden under the footrest. The nut needs to be held captive in a plastic slot, so that when each knob is turned clockwise the bolt and screw tighten and hold at the selected height. If the plastic knob turns freely, the nut may have come out of the channel, or even come off the bolt entirely. This really isn't complicated once you see it. Kensington could have designed this better, or at least explained it more than just a drawing of turning the knob. If you need to adjust the footrest height again, just avoid over-loosening the knob and it shouldn't be a problem. Except for the metal bolt & screw, the soft pad on top, and four rubber-like non-skid pads on the bottom, the footrest looks to be entirely made of extruded plastic. It looks like it should hold up just fine for a single user in a home or office environment, performing its intended function. The soft top is very comfortable, especially without shoes. I wouldn't recommend anyone put much weight on it (don't ever use this as a stool or step), or use it with wet/dirty shoes, cleats, etc. I accidentally noticed that the soft pad on top will come off easily (I bought slightly used model). It easily pops back on, and presses back in place. The underside of the soft pad has a rubber-like feel. I can't say for sure how it would hold up, but if the pad ever got dirty with mud or something, I'd try taking the top pad off and washing it in the kitchen sink with warm water and dish detergent, then letting it air dry. I don't have much need to adjust the tilt during use, but I find it easy to do and don't accidently hit the lever. The unit stays in place on low carpet and wood floor. Overall, I'm very happy with it. I wouldn't call it a great buy considering the plastic construction, but I didn't see anything at this price that is as functional, adjustable and better quality materiel. There are some footrests listed here with wood and/or metal construction that are either much more expensive or not as adjustable.

Super Product
Fantastic, well made, clever design. You can adjust the height and angle. It is heavy (for plastic) w/rubber base so it stays where you put it even on hard floors. It is wide enough so you can naturally position your feet on it. Love this thing!

Great footrest, very comfortable
I like it. I am so much more comfortable sitting at my desk now. The footrest is weighty, and its made of heavy duty plastic with a firm memory foam top. For some reason, the memory foam top is removable. Not sure why that is since you can't buy a replacement, not that you would ever need to anyways, it seems very durable. The footrest is fully adjustable, but the mechanisms could be updated. This particular footrest has been made by Kensington for a many, many years. I understand the idea of not fixing something if it works, but these mechanisms can definitely be improved. The tilt mechanism is easy, but the height adjustment takes a little patience..its very unintuitive, but it works. What I like most? As thin as it is, I really like the memory foam under my feet, its the right amount of cushion. And I like the size of this footrest. Its big enough that I can fidget a bit and my feet are still on it. As for price, it seems a bit expensive for what it is, but its being shipped for free, so maybe the price is ok. If you can catch it on sale, 20-25 percent off, its a better buy. Utimately, this footrest is the perfect solution for me, a huge relief to my discomfort when sitting at my desk..

Very difficult to set to the right height.
I found the pictogram that came in the box to be of no help in setting up the foot rest. There are no written words explaining how to adjust the height of this foot rest. I had to read other reviews and go to Kensington's website to figure out this thing - and the reviews were more helpful than their website! Prepare to be frustrated while setting this up. I don't know why they couldn't just include written instructions with this product. Other than that it is a pretty good foot rest. It is comfortable and it seems sturdy. Hopefully, it will last.

Most comfortable foot rest out there
I don't usually write reviews, but this is the best foot rest on the market. The other one I've had for years under my desk was too narrow and didn't allow my feet and hips to relax in their natural wide position. This is the only under-desk foot rest I've found that enables me to sit comfortably for hours. Spend the extra couple bucks and order this

Do yourself a favor and try this footrest
I love this footrest. I researched several before deciding on this one. I needed something to raise my feet up so that my legs do not get sore so fast sitting at my desk when I am working. I couldn't last 15 minutes no matter what height I had my chair adjusted to. I decided this might be the answer after a couple of days of putting my feet up on a box. It was the answer for me. I still can not sit still too long because I have ants in my pants but I am no longer in terrible pain after just a few short minutes so when I need to sit a long time I can. You can easily adjust the height and the pitch to several different positions which is great to find just the right position for you and your height. The black part where you put your feet is cushioned with memory foam so feels really nice when you have no shoes on. I use this in my home office so mostly I am without shoes when I use it. It is very sturdy and well made so it to me was worth the price.
