What are the benefits? You can save money on your flood insurance premiums by reducing your homes' flood risk. Flood risk is unique to each structure and depends upon factors such as the elevation of the property relative to predicted flood levels, the construction style of the building, and the flood risk zone. Adding flood vents to your homes' foundation walls provide a means that permit the automatic entry and exit of floodwaters which protects your foundation and reduces your flood risk. Lowering your flood risk reduces your flood insurance premiums according to the National Flood Insurance Program.

NO CERTIFICATE
I ordered 1 vent at $105.00 because the description states it comes with a ENGINEERED CERTIFICATE included in the box for the following states - AL, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, LA, and so on. That being said, the wording on the outside of the box was blacked out with felt pen and no cert inside, I needed the cert. to be submitted with the building plans to the city (Stockton, CA.) and planed on buying 8 more. At least I only wasted $105 and not over $900 , so if you need the certificate buy a different vent.

Not cheaply made
It’s not cheaply made. Has covers so if you need to heat and work you can block out. Could also do with foam board. Has screen on inside. Keeps out the bigger looks like 1/16” screening. Meets fema req

costly
we're in a flood zone, so fema requires these vents. the ones prescribed by my architect were over $200 a piece. these are half that, but still crazy expensive. they're easy to install and they look good. they just cost too much

Nope
Updated review: These have started falling apart around installation points. Not holding up going to have to replace after only 2 years.Installs right over the opening-which was great because my opening was slightly smaller than a normal 8"x16" opening and it was easy to install with included screws and some adhesive I had around the house. Like the way they look too!

Product did not meet my insurance requirements. (number of square inches)
The product looked great. It was not of sufficient to meet FEMA requirements. I had ordered the product before I understood the full extent of the FEMA standards. The packaging and appearance were excellent. However, I could not use it to meet my insurance company's flood requirements.

Returns to Blevins are very expensive!
I disliked having to pay $58.73 to return this item that was too big and I didn't even open . I paid over$1,000.00 for the 8 that were the right size. So BEWARE of return shipping label that has code CP!I means customer pays!!!

Perfect for FEMA regulated vents
Items received were perfect. At the last minute we were told that we were required to put these in our newly reconstructed garage as our garage is in a flood zone. They work great and allowed us to pass inspection
