Q: Will these run on an old style ac buzz box? i know it says dc/ac ,but sometimes it take a better machine or operator.

Yes, the old style AC buzz-box works very well. A note, don't jam the rode in the pool, V groove the casting, preheating helps but not needed just warm from the sun, if stitch welding, peen the stitch while it's hot, one whack is good enough. If your welding a long crack, alternate the stitch don't weld the whole crack in one pass or it will keep cracking. LORD BLESS

I read where they are made from a combination of ductile iron, cast iron and nickle. At the reasonable price of these rods, I'd give it a try. There is a web site " Muggy Weld " that has a lot of good info which maybe of help to you. Good luck!

Q: number of rods per pound

This welding rod worked very well on cast iron. I made a repair and held very well. I didn't count how many rods was in the package only concerned about the repair. This price was cheap compared to other sellers so wasn't concerned about amount of rods.

Q: How’s this for welding cast iron pans

Cast iron is very difficult to weld. It is very hard to control the weld puddle. But it can be done. What ever you weld,the item is supposed to be pre heated to 700 degrees and cooled slowly by placing it in sand or a bucket of ashes. The other method is to weld small amounts at room temperature and ping it with a hammer after each pass.
