High Quality at a Great Price! Don't spend more than necessary...
The technology behind these IR digital thermometers has become so cheap in recent years that options abound for low-price models, and unlike some other tech that experiences across-the-board price drops, the quality nonetheless remains relatively high in most models. The ANGGO version sold here is a prime example of that phenomenon. For a low price, you get a well-tuned product that is functionally sound and well built.I mainly use this thermometer for cooking purposes to test the heat of stove-top griddles or grill pans before laying down a steak for searing. Recently venturing into salt block cooking, I've also found this thermometer to be an indispensable tool allowing me to monitor the progress of slowly inching up a block's temp as is required for this type of cooking. The thermometer can also be helpful for grilling and smoking meats by providing an idea of the temp at various spots within your grill/smoker, but aiming the laser on a precise spot on a grate for a definitive reading is challenging. At best, you can get a general sense of where hotspots are located to inform the placement of meats.I'm also able to use this device when deep frying as I've found that the temperature reading you get from pointing the beam into hot oil seems to correspond well to the temperature reading of a submerged thermometer. This fact makes for easier frying without the hassle/danger of having to place a thermometer into the oil itself.Beyond cooking, there are plenty of other uses for this item, from checking cooling/heating vents to verifying the temperature of a soldering iron's tip. It's also fun to point the beam at various surfaces in and around the home to see how and where heat or cold is entering/exiting the space. You can't go wrong with ANGGO's version. Mine's held up well, and I have absolutely no complaints. It's cheap and effective for use around the home. I couldn't tell you how well it would do for intensive commercial or professional use, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's more than adequate there too. At the price, it's probably worth giving it a shot.

great value.
I was a little afraid it would not be very accurate because of the lower price, but it seems to be with a degree for things at room temperature. I haven't determined how accurate it is for things at extreme temperature because this device is the only thing i have to take those temperatures at the moment. It comes with instructions which are pretty easy to follow, and explain that depending on the distance an object is the greater the area you are measuring. These things can't measure shiny things very well.I found this toy (or 'tool'; to each their own) to be very entertaining and interesting. I can find places around windows where the caulking is thin and heat is escaping. Some sections of my exterior walls must be missing insulation because a couple square feet in some areas are three degrees lower than the rest (in the winter now). objects in my fridge can range from 33 degrees to 45 degrees based on where they are placed. My ice cream is 15 degrees and my ice is -1 degree. The inside of my mouth is 98 degrees.I like how this one uses AAA batteries. Many of the other ones use 9v which i never seem to have. My toddler likes to play with it which is fine because i can turn the lazer off and she doesn't know how to turn it back on yet. When i was trying it out at first, i measured the temperature of my wife's butt and said 'just as i thought, pretty hot!' Purchase instantly justified.

IF THE LASER BEAM DOESN'T WORK, READ THE BOTTOM OF MY REVIEW!
The laser beam intended for point where you wanted to take the temperature stopped working after the third time. I just tried it again & the red beam still didn't work. I decided to se if it had a battery. It looked as though the front part of the grip might slide down to expose a battery. I tried hard to slide it down to no avail, but...... once again I tried it & now the red laser beam works!! I don't know whether to pry it a little with a small screwdriver to see if I can expose a battery or not for frae of breaking something! :-)I finally figured it out. There's a small depression close to the top part of the grip on each side. Just enough room for your thumb on one side & a finger on the other side, You can use these to pull the top part of the black portion of the grip away from the yellow portion. It's hinged at the bottom. Lo & behold..... there are 2 AAA batteries at the bottom of the grip.

Every cook should have one.
Consider it an almost indispensable kitchen tool. At one time had one at four locations, and they seemed reasonably accurate and consistent. Hard to ascertain degree of accuracy, but likely most accurate measuring heat radiating from solid surfaces such as floor, ceiling, wall, griddle, pot or pan. Seem more accurate for solids than liquids; ice water measured 38ºF; simmering water measured 180ºF. Great for griddle and skillet, easy to avoid overheating or adding food before it is hot enough. Also good for maintaining griddle heat while cooking. Easy to check AC outlets for temperature and consistency.Caution. Measured region should be homogeneous; requires astute interpretation when measuring grills.Very handy, highly recommend, and, if you get one, check a clear blue sky on a hot summer day; you might be surprised at the reading.Readings better understood by those who can recall a bit of HS science, especially physics.

Readings for temp. not accurate.
I believe margin for error is almost +/- 3.5, and not +/-1.5c. Readings on human forehead fluctuates from 33 - 35c. After experimenting with this for a while i manage to get consistant readings of -2c from a distance of 1-2cm from the forehead. Decided to keep it as it is alway accurate to -2c. Haha.

Works well
product was expensive when shipped to my country but works well to test the temperature of surfaces with the red dot to show the accuracy. im not really a fan of loud beep sound when i press the trigger. im worried there is no warranty stated in the box so im not so sure how long it will last as it is made in China provided if i take care really properly and follow the manual.

Inaccurate and inconsistent
Temperature reading totally inaccurate. Shows temperature at 34 for a healthy person. DO NOT BUY. Many bad reviews about inaccurate readings but they are still selling and cheating people
