Happiness Street - 행복길: A bilingual book for kids learning Korean (English Korean edition) (Korean Bilingual Books - Fostering Creativity in Kids)

This book is a great learning resource for studying korean. I like the fact that the English translation is right next to the Hangul, and it is very easy to understand as a beginner. The story is also very personal to the author, which is a great addition. I'm glad I purchased this book!

Part of learning a new language is to learn how to read it and speak it. I've been looking for beginner books to help me with that, then I saw this. It is simple enough for me to read out loud (word call), but challenging enough for me to try and analyze sentence structure, vocabulary, and other grammar rules (verb tense, polite vs casual...). The illustrations help give context to the text, and if I get stuck, the English text is there to help me out, though I use that as a last resort.

This book bills itself as fostering creativity in children learning Korean or English as a second language.There are a series of pleasant paintings depicting a seaside vacation, accompanied by text in English and Korean that is a rather plain account. However gentle-spirited, it is not clear that either the paintings or the account will prove especially motivating for children to learn the second language and/or become more creative themselves. But use the "look inside" feature to decide for yourself.

I love all the color and beautiful paintings.Each story perfectly fits the paintings and the story reminds me of the vacations I went on when I was younger.This is not only a wonderful book, but also very educational book for bilingual children. They could read in English or in Korean just like when they read a story, and sometimes compare the two languages. It would really helpful to improve two languages!

What a wonderful story! And the watercolor painting how beautiful! You can tell in the story that the writer has some very vivid and wonderful memories of her childhood. Reading the story was like taking a walk down memory lane only they weren't my memories, but they were beautiful nonetheless! And the beauty that was put into the illustrations is remarkable. The details are amazing, and the colors are very vibrant. I wish every child could have memories like this. (I know it's not always possible) This book gives hope to those children struggling to find happiness even in the most basic of pleasures.

This was a beautiful story with paintings that connected to the text perfectly, as the details were vividly described. It was as if I closed my eyes and I could remember Summer with them, and feel the happiness in their reminiscence of this time and the feel of family.

We are a French-Korean family living in the UK. So English is our sons' strongest language is English. We already had the English-French version and loved how it invites children in the creative process (i.e. how each colour is added one painting at a time to depict childhood memories).With the Korean version we were particularly amazed at the great translation work. With poetic language, there are often omissions, and it becomes very tricky to translate the implied parts without becoming too literal.We've loved the Happiness Street in English, French AND Korean!
