Renters best friend!
Worked out perfect! Sturdy. Easy enough to put together. If you have an all round rail no worries. I didn’t have to get any extra parts. I managed with what come it all comes along with. F

Works as advertised and easy to install!
Easy to install and works as advertised! I was well down the road of making something like this myself. After multiple trips to Home Depot, I had scrounged something together that was costing more and probably would have worked half as well. This checked all the boxes I needed.

Installed Easily With a Slight Modification
The item arrived on time and was in good shape with no parts missing. I should say first off that this was purchased to install a Regalo Top of Stairs gate to keep a dachshund puppy in the family room. The bottom clamp went on without an issue however, the top clamp was intended to install on the round part of the oak railing post, and the post was too wide at the top to allow the included round post clamps to be bolted up. I went into the shop and found a piece of thick rubber gasket and cut it to fit into the flat clamp. I installed the upper clamp and it fit good with the rubber gasket, and one of the round post adapters. It probably would have been nicer to have two longer bolts supplied, but I understand they can't anticipate how wide the round part of the post is. The rest of the installation was a breeze and soon I was installing the Regalo gate. I am glad I found this adapter so I didn't have to drill holes into the nice Oak post on the railing. The other side of the wall is sheetrock, and that is easy to repair when the bracket is installed. All in all it was a great purchase and, with a little bit of modification, works perfectly.

Great idea! Super helpful for mounting baby gates by staircase
We needed to install one of those curtain style baby gates at the bottom of our stairs. Issue is they require a flat wall on both sides. We only have a flat wall on one side and then a fancy rounded banister on the other side. The adhesive parts just aren't going to stick to it. Don't want to drill into it either. Then I found this kit.The kit is really straight forward to install. The good part is you can easily replace the wood that comes with it if needed. The piece that came with it worked great for mounting the hook ends of the curtain gate.It feels durable, doesn't move when I shake it. We'll see how it holds up in the long run.Only issue is it looks ugly, haha. Its not permanent though and serves a purpose so that's whatever.

Great adapter. Saved me $3k.
The posts on our stairs taper and are round and it would be impossible to attach a typical baby gate to it without this adapter piece. The adapter came with everything needed, and it was very easy to install. I cut wood board by hand, sanded it some, and painted it white to match my railing. My Dad and I did it all by ourselves. Before finding this adapter piece, I had reached out to two different handymen to get quotes to have the stair post replaced with a square post and a baby gate added, and the quotes were both over $3k. So, needless to say, this inexpensive adapter piece saved me $3k. I was able to then buy a regular baby gate and install that myself also! All thanks to this adapter (and my Dad).

Maybe the best niche product I've bought on Amazon
This mounted so easily and created a solid foundation for mounting a gate. I'm really happy with how solid this feels without putting holes into our banister. This product seems a bit expensive, especially if you need two of them, but it is just a perfect product. We just moved out of a house where I had to punch holes in the wall for the same gate, this time, no holes and the mounting feels more sturdy than crappy drywall anchors.

Great for saving my bannister
Product came with all parts. I did need a second set of hands to “hold this real quick while I drill this hole,” but that was no problem. Wood this comes with is nice and flat. Product works great with the hardware mount gate I bought. I’m very happy with my purchase. Just make sure you have a drill and proper bit so you can drill the pilot holes. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to save holes from going into their bannister that plan on using a hardware mounted gate which is exactly what I needed for the top of my stairs. Sturdy when assembled as well.

I broke my thumb trying to assemble this.
First of all, the directions are quite unclear. After some time trying to figure out what piece was what, I finally attached the right pieces together. It's easy enough, but thats exactly my point. With such an easy set up, I don't think I should have to guess around what piece should go with what. It should state so clearly in the directions. Furthermore, the screws that come with the kit were too long. They went through the wood plank, through the wooden blocks and into my bannister. The entire purpose of this was to protect my bannister. Maybe it was just my kit, but the screws definitely screwed into my bannister. I know this because when I finally said "f this" and tried taking the kit apart, ALAS the kit was screwed directly into my bannister. Lastly, I broke my thumb attempting to put this thing together. I admit this may entirely have been user-error and not the kit, but as I was drilling in one of the screws (that were evidently too long anyway) through the plastic cover and into the wooden blocks, the screw snapped and the drill went into my thumb. I spent six hours in the ER after that. Yes, very fun. I'm on antibiotics now and I have to leave my thumb in a stupid looking cast. So like I said, maybe it was just my kit that was faulty. I'm sure it worked fine for other people, and all of this may have entirely been user error but I definitely will NOT be buying this product again.-Hot Mess Mom
