Best milk for my preemie baby!!!
This milk has been a Godsend ever since we found out our 4 month son was allergic to cows milk. After much research and different formula trials, we settled for a homemade baby formula using this Goats milk along with Probiotics 3x/day given separately. Goats milk is much easier to digest than cows milk, and it doesn't contain "casein". My son no longer has projectile vomiting, has no loose/yellow bowel movements, no more gas, and is off Zantac for suspected indigestion. If you were to read the ingredient list on traditional store bought formula, a lot of the powders are made with UNHEALTHY PRODUCTS such as corn syrup solids & non fat evaporated milk! Babies require good fats for brain development. This is the following recipe I use to make my sons homemade goats milk formula.http://pthirty1.com/homemade-goat-milk-infant-formula-recipe-and-other-formula-tales/4 tbsp powdered goat milk – I first purchased powdered goat milk at a local health food store. I have since discovered it is sold at Whole Foods and I’ve recently found it online at Amazon. It is cheapest on Amazon ($9.07 per 12 oz can) plus shipping is free. Additionally, you get a 5% discount if you enable autoship in which you can pre-order the milk for up to 6 month increments. The Meyenberg brand is the only brand I’ve found and it works great! It is fortified with folic acid and vitamin D as an added bonus for babies. I have also used store-bought goat milk and diluted it using a 1:1 milk/water ratio (for this recipe, that would be 2 cups goat milk to 2 cups water). I have read that evaporated goat milk can also be used.4 tsp organic coconut oil – Coconut oil is the most abundant natural source of an essential saturated fat called lauric acid which is found in high amount in breast milk. In fact, breast milk is the only other natural source that contains such a high amount of lauric acid. Lauric acid helps to destroy bacteria, viruses and fungus in the body. As well, coconut oil is known for regulating blood sugar and thyroid function.I have always kept coconut oil as a kitchen staple. This was a plus because the initial investment for goat milk formula ingredients can be pricey albeit worth it. Not having to purchase coconut oil was great! I purchase my coconut oil from Amazon as well because I can usually take advantage of free shipping. I pay about $9 for a 15 oz container of coconut oil. I know this is sacrilege for me, but I have never done price comparison shopping for coconut oil so if you think you can find it cheaper elsewhere, you probably can :).4 tsp organic sunflower oil (alternative: extra virgin olive oil) – Sunflower oil (and olive oil) provide monounsaturated fats and vitamin E. Unsaturated fats balance blood cholesterol. Sunflower oil has significantly more vitamin E than olive oil, but olive oil contains more vitamin K than sunflower oil. I prefer sunflower oil for the milder flavor/scent in the infant formula. Since both provide enough essential unsaturated fats and vitamins, and we are adding a multivitamin to the formula (keep reading), both oils will work. I have also read where the oil can be omitted.Like most households, extra virgin olive oil is a staple in my kitchen. I buy it blindly when I shop at low-price leader grocery stores and don’t pay much attention to price. I’ve even found it at Aldi and Walmart. Sunflower oil, on the other hand, was much more difficult to get my hands on. I found it at Whole Foods for about $5 for a 16 oz bottle. Sunflower oil can also be purchased on Amazon.4 tbsp organic agave nectar (alternative: organic 100% maple syrup, brown rice syrup) – The sugar and high carbohydrate content found in agave nectar are necessary for brain growth. Forty percent of the calories from breast milk come from carbohydrates called lactose. A breast milk substitute, therefore, would have to be high in carbs as well.I have been buying agave nectar in bulk at Costco since I have started plant-based eating. It is much sweeter than regular sugar so I use less of it, and therefore, it lasts a lot longer. I cannot recall how much I paid for it (since I’ve had it for so long). I do know that it is sold in most grocery stores. I also keep maple syrup as a kitchen staple for plant-based eating. I am not particularly fond of maple syrup’s taste as a condiment. However, it works fine as sugar substitutes in most baked ingredients. Like agave nectar, 100% maple syrup can be found at almost any grocery store including Walmart. I’ve found it the cheapest at Aldi for about $4.1/2 tsp unsulphured blackstrap molasses – This provides B-vitamins, iron, calcium and trace minerals. Molasses also helps with alleviate constipation. I have not had a problem with this amount, but decrease the amount if stools are too loose.I found molasses at Walmart and thought I struck gold. When I got it home, I realized it was not unsulphured blackstrap molasses and the two differ by processing method. I found the unsulphured molasses at Whole Foods.1/2 tsp infant probiotic strain – I had always heard of probiotic in my favorite yogurt products before now, but never paid much attention to it. Breast milk is extremely high in probiotics. Probiotics improve digestive functions and boost the good bacteria in our bodies to fight the bad bacteria which prevents infection. Breast milk contains numerous probiotic strains including lactobacillus genus, lactobacillus gasseri and lactobacillus fermentu. The infant probiotic comes in a vitamin bottle and is a powdery substance so it’s easy to add to liquids and foods. I found a brand by Maxi Baby Care at Whole Foods. It can also be purchased at Amazon, GNC, Vitamin Shoppe and most health food stores.4 tsp natural infant liquid multivitamins (or proportioned amount per package directions and amount of milk being made) – This adds in all the missing and extra vitamins your infant needs. If you are adding this to his/her daily diet already, I would not advise including this in the formula too.I found a multivitamin brand by Maxi Baby Care at Whole Foods. It can also be purchased at Amazon, GNC, Vitamin Shoppe and most health food stores. Poly-vi-sol is another popular infant vitamin brand and it can be found at Walmart.32 oz warm nursery or filtered water – Goat milk powder is harder to dissolve in cold water than store-bought formula. Make sure your water is hot or warm for better mixing and clump-free formula.

Goats know kids...get it...LOL!
I know my title is corny but witty. Anyway, I have been buying Meyenburg goat milk for over 2 years now. From various website. I try to buy at $9 and some change or less. Amazon is pretty good competing at time as far as price.Anyway, I can't say enough about how great this milk is. Like other parents have reviewed and said I also started using the goat milk due to my son having severe colic and reflux. I was trying to breast feed but had poor supply that got worse with the stress of a sick child. This issue is not uncommon. As another reviewer said goat milk has been used for centuries in other cultures as the go to milk for babies. Also what ever I was eating he was sensitive to also. So I was told by some relatives that were old school nurses, teachers and child care workers to try goat milk. Of course I had to do my research. I actually came across a review on Amazon that gave me the faith and other tools to try it. I researched those sites as well as Dr. Sears and started making my own formula. Mind you I did not tell my pediatrician, I actually switch pediatricians because she told me he would grow out of it. WHAT? If I came to my doctor with severe gas, stomach pain and projectile vomiting I think someone would help me not over look it. Why do they treat babies like that? And we wonder why food allergies are on the rise. For my recipe I used of course this goat milk, fish oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, vegetable based kids liquid vitamin, kids powdered probiotics, molasses for iron, maple syrup, and agave syrup. A little bit of each item with the goat milk watered down enough that the kids poop is not runny or hard. I made 3 quarts at a time. Stored in a glass air tight container. This recipe may fatty and sweet but breast milk is very fatty and sweet. I am trying to recreate breast milk just like canned formula claims to do but does not come close.Anyway after I got my recipe straight my son's growth shot up and he started to reach his growth potential. Meaning my husband is tall (6'6") so he should be too or rather getting to it. My son liked the milk right off the bat. I would add what breast milk I could to it before my supply dried up. I think it all helped his immune system. As he never got sick after that until starting early pre-school at 2 years old.I let the results of my son height and weight staying in the 95% on the growth chart do the talking. Soon the new pediatricians and gastroenterologist were asking what I was giving him and keep doing it. Because most kids with feeding issue are very tiny and sickly. They grow up to have lots of allergies to because their intestines did not get a chance to mature and heal from the crap formula they are given. This info is coming from the gastroenterologist that was assigned to my son. I finally told them goat milk. The gastroenterologist discharged him and gave my son a good prognosis and bill of health. My current pediatricians comments all the time on how strong and tall he is. He also talks about how white his teeth are.My husband and I have also ditched the cow and only drink goat milk also. Every night at dinner if my son does not eat his food I make him a goat milk "shake" with liquid vitamin and fish oil. He sleeps all night and is still growing. To give you a picture my son is 27 months old (2years and 3 months), weight 34 pounds and is 38 inches tall (wears a 3t/4t), wears a size 10 shoe. Towers above all the kids in his class. No fat just solid. In fact in the last 3 month he has leaned out. Will your child be like this? Maybe....maybe not. But you as the parent can help your child meet his or her growth potential by feeding with a milk with more protein, calcium and healthy brain fats.If you are reading this...I hope it helps. Trust you parent instinct. Don't let anyone make you think you are crazy to get help for your child. Goat milk is safe unless your child is allergic to all animal milk. Yes making formula takes time that is why I made it in big batches. You can also make a batch and freeze it. Make over the weekend and freeze plastic containers of it. I did that when traveling. Yes making formula cost money on the front end but I would rather do this than pay co-pays at various doctors offices for this allergy or that illness due to poor feeding. After the age of one year old it gets easier because you just make it like the directions say. Goat milk is naturally sweet. No need to add anything. Say no to this nasty, stinky, chemical formula. If God says the same, with my next child it is breast milk and goat milk to supplement from day one. I have cut a lot out of my diet as a result of this experience so hopefully more breast milk but if not I have my recipes ready and laminated. Also due to this I am currently training as a health and wellness coach to help other parents. Again I hope this help you or your family.
